Water
Obviously this isn't new, but how many of you honestly only consume water? Have you tried going days, weeks, or even months drinking ONLY water? How did you feel? Did you lose a significant amount of weight? It has come to my attention that most of my calories come from liquids and not food. This is not good at all.
My plan was to stick to water only for an entire month while eating the same foods I normally would eat. Maybe (probably) weight will slowly fall off because the caloric beverages have been eliminated from my diet? And with the continuous consumption of water, I will feel 'fuller', thus reducing the amount of food that is eaten on a daily basis.
It's something that I want to stick to. Would any of you give this a try if you haven't already?

I drink diet soda, water and V-8 Juice.
IMO - There a lot of empty calories in drinks especially sports drinks and juice (you are much better off eating fruit and getting the benefit of the fiber than drinking fruit juice)

I drink water 99% of the time. I hate getting cals from liquid unless it's a shake I make. This does not speak for longer rides however.
I drink at least 7 24 oz bottles a day. I love water.

The only calories I get from a drink is from V8. Past that, water, tea and the occasional coffee. Unless you drink a ton of soda or other high cal beverages in your daily routine, drinking only water isn't going to have any amazing benefits that I can think of. I drink over a gallon of water a day, and I don't think my body is fooled by feeling full of water when hungry.

Might be something to look into.
I'm a big milk drinker; anywhere from 4 to 6 12 ounce glasses a day. And that doesn't include what I use on my cereal in the morning. Figuring it's 130 calories per 8 ounce cup, at the maximum of 6 12 ounce glasses a day, I'd be consuming about 1170 calories. Yikes, that's a lot of liquid calories!!
Skim milk (around 86 calories per 8 ounce cup) would save me almost 400 calories over those same 6 glasses. The only problem with skim milk is, in my not so humble opinion, is that it's nothing but tasteless, white water.
Maybe it's time I rethink how much milk I drink, and replace some of that with some cold H2O.

I gave up soda more than 10 years ago when I started learning about how toxic it could be for the body, increasing acidity, etc. That was only compounded when they started using aspartame as a sweetener. There is not a single aspect of carbonated sodas that remotely appeals to me.

I drink loads of water... coffee in the AM, water all day and for all meals and then maybe wine after dinner if it's a Thursday through Sunday situation.
I go through a ton of water. Did it cause me to lose a lot of weight? Not really, but I feel much better.

I honestly consume a lot of soft drinks (diet mostly) and coffee year round EXCEPT for summer (May to September for Greece) where because of sweating, especially during cycling, I end up consuming vast amounts of water (around 4.5L or 18+ glasses) and try to avoid drinking anything else.
I've been warned by my doctor to keep a check on this amount so I can avoid getting "water poisoning*" and if I'm thirsty to drink a sports drink, preferably without sugar to raise my electrolytes.
For dieting, I still try to have a glass or two of water ten minutes before eating which DOES help me from overindulging and having seconds (or thirds, or fourths.... ). I also drink a glass before sleeping which keeps me feeling "full" and from nightly fridge raids.
IndianaRecRider, I'm sorry to bring this into the subject but I remember when a family member (survivor) was diagnosed with cancer, the doctor told her to cut down on milk (she drank a lot as well) because for adults, milk "feeds" the cancer cells we all have in us and raises the risk.

I drink water, soda, beer, sports drinks, whatever. I know I'm gonna have to ride harder for longer to break even, but that's what I want to do anyway. I'm 6'5" 205 so I'm good right now. Just for the heck of it I went to a few BMI calculators, and got this result "For your height, a normal weight range would be from 156 to 210 pounds." 6'5" 156 sounds terrible. I graduated high school at 170 and I couldn't imagine losing 15 lbs off that.

I would guess your results would depend on what you were drinking before you switched to water. If it was a six pack of beer or spirits every day, then you'd probably see a substantial improvement, given that alcohol is basically pure calories. If you come from diet soda, less so. I have heard people losing significant weight over time from switching from regular cola to water but that's of course going to depend on when and how much of any calorie drink you consume.
In the end our normal diets are so far off from ideal that any little change is only going to help a little bit, but every little bit counts. You just have to decide which trade-offs are suitable to keeping you happy. I have cut back significantly on my Diet Pepsi, now down to pretty much only having it when I'm out for lunch or dinner. In the last year in order to shift my meals earlier in the day, I've been having smaller dinners, and trying to make time for a more substantial breakfast. The latter is of course difficult in our get-to-work culture, so half my breakfast calories come from iced green tea, of which I don't want to drink the diet version, that would be useless for a bigger breakfast strategy.

In answer to the OP, the only beverages I drink on a daily basis are calorie free, unsweetened. Herbal teas are a big beverage for me right now.

Sheesh. I am 6' 2". When I went from 265 lbs. to 175 lbs. (senior year of college) I was pretty darn thin. Wore a 32" waist quite comfortably. I cannot imagine having gotten to 156 lbs. At 6' 5" and 156 lbs. you would probably make Bradley Wiggins look zoftig.

The only non-water I drink is Spark and that is one a day usually.

Not a chance. I drink about 1.5-3 liters of water a day but need my caffeine, coffee and tea. On occasion I will have a coke and have a couple of beers a week and use soy milk for shakes in morning and recovery drinks.
