Hey, I've been thinking about this... this might be my first ever "sanctioned cycling event" ever--I mean, it's as close to a full-in cycling race as I've ever come... Cool!

Okay, and before anybody goes out of their way to burst my bubble, I KNOW that I'll be in the slow, "non competitive" pack, that ITS NOT REALLY SANCTIONED by anyone, and all that good stuff... But I still might get to pin a number to my shirt... and I might even "toss" a water bottle as if I didn't care like "real" racers do!

@PhotoJoe, did you create a team for this? Clydesdales and Athenas? Or is everyone registering as individuals?

Still not sure I'm going to ride it but working on it

Pansy.

Nobody's working at freaking 4 am so no excuses!

Oh, I'm in for sure. I'm also in for a big breakfast while wearing skin tight clothing. Sue me.

A big breakfast is a good way to lure me into riding this I rode this AM but no time to stop for a bite with the club!

Ok, I'm officially IN.

I'll be bringing a new Italian redhead I met at a bike shop with me

Oh dear.

Does she already know what a meatball you are or do you need to bribe us to keep quiet? I'm OK either way.

Are you going to have your actual Italian bike ready to go by then?

No team. Just register on your own. I'm not sure how we'll get our numbers if we don't go to the registration party the night before. I know I won't be going to that.

IMPORTANT BAD NEWS - DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME STARTS OR ENDS (WHICHEVER IT IS!!!) ON MARCH 9TH. So, yes, we have YET ANOTHER hour less sleep that day!

Or don't register, doesn't look like it matters anyway.

Yeah, missing ONE HOUR of sleep is the issue here. It just means we get to eat an extra big breakfast.

So, Mr. Ride Organizer, what time are we shooting to meet up? I reckon we can try to meet twice, once where ever you decide to park and then somewhere near the tail of the pack by Tang's Closed Donut shop.

I notice that the last train westbound on a Saturday night is 2:17 am or so, but I guess I could ride to the ride from downtown. It's a whopping 4 miles. Sunset should be navigable.

Beach, where are your bike gang planning on meeting?

Seeing as public transport from the IE isn't an option for me, I'll be meeting you fine folks wherever we park.

I PM'd the organizer and asked if we could pick up our numbers on the day of. I have no intentions of going to the party the night before. Organizer said they will not be handing out numbers the day of. So, you either get them at the party or you don't get them at all.

The Red line is where the ride starts from. I made it red because it is really a sight to see with 1,000+ blinkies blinkificating at the same time. The Green arrow is the entrance of the parking garage we choose to use (Sunset at Vermont). This is what it looks like from the street:

That is Vermont at the far side of the shot. I'm sure there are others, but this one works really well because the train stop is in the same building (blue circle on the map). Let's make the green circle the official meetup spot for whoever wants to. Ride rolls at 4am. Gathering starts at 3am for those trying to be at the front. Let's make the meetup at 3:45am. Don't forget about daylight savings time!!!

PhotoJoanne and I are going to start at the VERY back of the back. DSL as we call it - Dead Stinking Last. Sort of like our triathlon results last weekend, but that's another story! We want to start at the back because we just don't need to be anywhere near the chaos at the front.

Here's my Strava from last year. Mrs. PJ and I will be doing the same route with the train back to the start.

https://app.strava.com/activities/44796157

Gonna be a great ride!

This sounds like something that would be right up my alley! Cheap, non-competitive with blocked off streets
The tricky part would be getting up.....

Good luck to anyone racing in that cold morning air

I'm not going to register either (don't see the need - I can't attend the party either).

Thanks for the excellent instructions PJ! So easy to follow but for a doofus like me keep your cell phone close

Not knowing what some of you drive, be aware that roof racks are NOT advisable if you're going to park where I am. Or at least bikes in the racks upon entry would be...as we call it....."bad".

Think of it as an inadvertent opportunity to upgrade.
