Need help with a new diet

I agree with eating as many whole foods as possible. I also try to avoid refined "white" foods - ie, white bread, white rice, white pasta, anything made with white flour or sugar. I've switched over to whole wheat/whole grain breads and pastas, and brown rice. It took awhile for me to get used to the stronger flavor of whole grains as opposed to the refined stuff, but now I like it. A side dish of whole-wheat angel hair pasta and homemade tomato sauce is super easy, and so much healthier than the processed version that comes in a package at the supermarket.
This being said, I'm still working on trading out cookies and cake for apples and berries. I have a terrible sweet tooth.
