Tires?

So the bike I'm leaning towards has a 32hole doubled wall disc rim. Will this be a sufficient wheel for one that weighs 330lb? What kind of tires do yiu guys recommend?

Rim should be fine. Just don't go 'curb hopping' and avoid potholes as best you can.

For tires, I'm really liking my Bontrager Hardcase tires. Not sure if that is the exact name, but the shop guy referred to them as 'Hardcase' tires. I went through a spat of flats, and it turned out that it was due to having racing tires. Very thin walled. Not for the streets I frequent. Since getting the Hardcase tires, (on two of my bikes), I've only had one flat ... and that one was a pinch flat due to a pothole I hit. My third bike has Continental Gatorskin, the tough ones. I like them too, no flats, but they seem to wear faster than the Bontrager Hardcase tires. (I'm running 25mm tires on all my bikes now. They give a more comfortable ride than the 23s.)

Disregard my info. I had assumed that you were referring to a road bike. Sorry for mis-informing.

the simple answer is yes. it should be fine if it's a well built wheel. of course you could get cheap wheels that fit that description, but a good quality wheel with well tensioned spokes will work just fine for you. You could do 36hole rear if you wished. Probably overkill, but it won't add much weight to the wheel and might provide some peace of mind and allow touring and panniers etc if you wished.
