A fat guy on a four day bicycle tour
Just got back from a four day solo bicycle tour on the new touring bike. Worked out some of the kinks on this ride and had a blast. If you ever have the chance to go for a bicycle tour, go for it. The experience is wonderful!
Pictures and write up can be found by clicking here. Enjoy the read. |
Hey Chef, Cool write up thanks!
How much did your loaded bike weigh? |
Awesome. A solo tour is on my Bucket List. Glad you got to do it. :)

Great write-up Chef!
That sounds like an awesome tour. I totally hear you about the wind heading south into Cape May last week... I had a 70 mile ride planned for July 3rd (Sea Isle City, north to Ocean City, then in-land and south back to Cape May and finally up the Ocean Drive)... the wind out of the south-southwest was enough that I cut it short and went across directly to Wildwood instead of making it all the way down to Cape May... great job on sticking with it into that wind! |
Cool. Now go for a month (or a week or 2 weeks or etc.). It's not any more difficult logistically than 4 days.
|
Very nice write-up chef. Great pics too.
Makes me want to sit down and start planning a trip of my own. :) |

He's lucky the Cape May police didn't see him. Don't think they would take stealth camping lightly, especially if they were summer "Rent-a-Cops" and they caught him in some state of nakedness bathing on school property. Sounds like a potential recipe for a sex offender charge.

just a bit into reading this and you have me rethinking buying a disc trucker frame... blast you :)
|
Nice writeup, and the heat lately has been no fun, nice job.
|
dude, takes me 4 days just to get to the office.
well done! |
Good report. I got hot and tired just reading it. :)
I think stealth camping in urban areas has to be somewhat risky. I suppose the touring forum discusses the issue. Does it end up like helmet threads? |

I would LOVE to go for a month. Two weeks is pushing it but I can dream! :) It was really nice, and I should have written about it, to leave my front door and take a tour. No driving or anything. Lovely. |

Thats why they call it stealth camping. Dont think for a second, Dave, that I didnt do my homework. I had four places planned and also a camp site I could have gone to. This trip was pretty wrapped up. Thanks for reading though :) |

Some people love camp sites and I bet they are not as crowded on other days versus the 4th of July weekend but at this point, I like learning toward stealth camping because it is quiet. So far, all the camp sites I've been to are really loud at night. Slamming doors, loud voices, drinking, cars, lights after midnight. Blah. If you need some links to some great articles, let me know. The touring forum talks about it and no issue like the helmet threads. lol |

Excellent write up Chefisaac! You expressed many of my own sentiments, even shuttling a turtle across the street to safety just as I always do. :thumb:
