New Clyde from June Update on Trek DS 8.1

Morning!

I just wanted to share with everyone my progress since I bought my Trek DS 8.1 in late May.

It has been fantastic! Strava has made this experience so much fun. If you don't use it you should really check it out.

So far I'm averaging rides of 10-14 miles. I live in a VERY hilly area so they tend to be tough rides. I also purchased a HxM bluetooth heart rate monitor that I use with strava. I'm having an average of about 150 BPM throughout the entire 45-55 minute rides.

89 Miles so far. Had the 30 day tuneup on the DS 8.1. The bike has been fantastic. Not one issue. I will have to say, I can imagine next year moving to more of a road bike from the Hybrid. The hybrid will be really nice for the limestone trail paths but for the road riding I'm doing I may be in the market.

Using strava I targeted a "Segment" that I wanted to go after and I beat my goal. So much fun!

I plan on moving up to 20 mile rides soon and hopefully will scope out some of the limestone rail trails soon.

Thanks for all of your info so far everybody!

Congrats. I just got a Trek DS 8.3 sort of as a second bike for rougher trails, but it's quickly turning into my primary bike. I'm not sure why, but I can average faster speeds with it than I can with my FX 7.2. I'm up to 15 mile a day rides with my 20+ mile rides on the weekends.

I think that there is a Clyde/Athena group on Strava which you may be interested in.
