Thanks for all the wonderful posts

First post here but I have been lurking for several days reading this section like crazy.

The wife and I wanted to get some bikes as a form of fun exercise to lose weight. We visited a local bike shop the other day and then did some research online. (mostly here) We went back to the LBS today and ended up getting Electra Townies:

I know there a couple of people here that are not crazy about them but overall the reviews are very positive. As one person posted here "buy what you will ride" and right now these seem ideal for us as we have not ridden bikes since we were kids.

I will be reading more but I just wanted to thank all of you for all the wonderful posts that I was able to search through and read.

I'm a firm believer that it's not what you ride or how you ride, it's that you ride. Just get out there and do it!! Enjoy the bikes and if later on you decide there's a better bike for the way or location that you ride then you cross that bridge at that time. Have some fun and enjoy the ride!!

Yes, LBS has a lot of color choices for the wife's bike. She loves the violet.

I had pretty much had a choice of black or black. (and I think they had black)

Seriously, I think there actually was a dark green one but the one I bought was a Tall and there was only one. (in black)

I agree with that philosophy.

Welcome to the forum Carl. As you have already found out, there are a lot of great people here, ready to share their knowledge and experiences.

Those are nice looking bikes. As has already been said, enjoy the ride. Be sure to share some pictures of your rides.
