First post here. new personal best

So started biking with my family on Saturday. Bought 4 new bikes and started riding. 2 miles Saturday, 7 miles of flat trail Sunday, 3 miles of moderate hills on Monday and 4.75 of moderate hills yesterday. Today I told the wife I was going alone. I rode 9.99 miles with some major hills. Elevation changes were over 650 feet. I rode the whole 9.99 in 37 minutes. Im 6 foot 3 and 290ish. I felt this was an accomplishment for riding under 1 week.

Im on a Trek 4300 bought it new from an employee of mine for 200. Same with my wifes Trek 7200 but it was only 150. The kids are riding big box stuff . Didnt want tondrop big money on a 24 inch that they will out grow in 6 months. When they want a 26 they too will be on Treks. The wife also has a 1966 trike that I found free on craigslist and rebuilt for her. She rides that to my shop a mile away every day with tea and lunch. I quit drinking beer 28 days ago so need lots of sweet tea at the shop.

Good for you Matt! Dont over-do it, but have fun riding. I always have.

Dont forget the family. I had lots of fun rides with mine when they were young. Its OK to go slow once in a while too.

I plan to only solo once a week or so. I really enjoy riding with the family. We have a plan for 6 weeks from now to ride a trail thats 19.4 miles, camp over night and then return home. It has been dubed "Survival bike challenge" . Its my son and I against mom and sister. We will be living off the land with the exception of water. Kind of a pack what you need and can carry trip. I do have a friend that will be dropping by fresh corn on the cob and t bone steaks for dinner. But the family is exspecting to be eating berrys and fish.

Good effort - it's always a boost to set a new personal best. The great thing is the desire to set a new PB will never go away.

For me if I'd done 9.99 miles I'd have rolled a little past the house to tip it over to 10. I've done that a few times when I get back home half a mile short of a nice round number, and taken a side street for long enough to roll it over the milestone.
