    First shot at this thread, but the August mileage thread motivated me to ride more.

    I might have tried for 200, but September in Buffalo can be iffy. I'll reassess mid month.

    ULTIMATE GOAL: 180 By New Years Eve

    I figure I have sept, oct, nov, dec to lose 11 pounds, so it's like 2 or 3 pounds a month. I could 'easily' do it if I was living in an area with no real winter, but unfortunately i'm in NY.
    So I have to try to tighten up my diet, reduce miles on the bike, and my ultimate priority is school, which is very difficult.

    So my goal is very small.

    Had good luck in August (7.8 pounds lost), so I'm game for another month.

    September 01 = 236.0 pounds.

    Goal is to lose 8 to 10 pounds.

    Shooting for 200 miles.

    This is a great motivator for me even if I didn't loose the 10 lbs last month like I hoped to. I did beat my mileage goal by 50% and that made me feel good.
    This month I have a lot happening so I am sticking with my 200 mile goal and going to try match my August loss of 6 lbs. If I make it I will be at 188.

    When I started riding my bike I had a goal to be down to 180 by Jan. 1 which would be the least I have weighed in at least 20 years. I think I am off to a good start and very optimistic!

    I'll join here. When i saw the thread title for the first time for August, I thought it was a discussion about the TV show, LOL.

    I didn't get a chance to ride yesterday, so....

    Yesterday starting weight: 226
    Goal: 215
    Mileage goal: 200

    Total goal is 200 by Christmas. Hope to ride up until Thanksgiving dependent on when the snow starts to fly.

    First post, hello everyone

    Today's starting weight: 87kg (191lbs)
    Month Goal: 80kg (176lbs)
    Year Goal: 70kg (154lbs)
    Mileage goal: 100

    I want to aim for 100 miles a month. I live in Japan, so it's really easy to bike anywhere for long distances. The only downside is that this country is extremely mountainous, so it's a big struggle to get up over the hills with steep inclines (usually I have to walk up them). I just started cycling Aug 5th in order to drop weight so hopefully I'll hit my goal by New Years....

    What are the rues/guidelines to the "challenge"? thinking of getting involved to hopefully motivate my lazy self!

    It's not really a formal challenge, just a personal one. Basicly you just post: your starting weight, goal weight by the end of the month, and your mileage goal if you so choose. Then you can post updates at whatever interval you choose, I do it weekly, but do what suits you from daily to just at the end of the month. It's kind of an accountability thing that helps keep some of us on track. Join in and good luck reaching whatever goal you set.
