Hey y'all I have an old problem that has resurfaced recently. For quite a while I had a ganglion cyst on the back of my wrist. Now it went away for a while but showed back up after I started riding. I have been working some long hours this week and it has subsided. Anybody have any suggestions to help when I start riding again?

The book method actually works. A friend of mine was highly indignant at having to pay an office call to a doctor who proceeded to hit him with a book. But it worked.

LMAO! That's so true. I looked at WebMd once when I had some particular neck pain. I came away convinced that I had Ankylosing Spondylitis and that in a few short years my life would be ruined. Fueling my fear was the fact that a cycling friend of mine really does have a form of it. I was convinced there was a connection between the condition and cycling.

OP: I have had such a cyst in the same place off and one for over a decade. It has never caused me any pain or discomfort. If it's not bothering you, I wouldn't worry about it.

FYI....According to my doctor at the time, one name for it is a "Bible Cyst." Religious school teachers supposedly smacked them with bibles to rupture them.

Yep, it's cancer for sure, either that or Lupus.

I can second (or third) that the book method works. I've flattened a few in my day, hurts like hell and you have to hit it just right or all you do is bang yourself up. A real stiff hard cover is what is called for, although some use leather bounds I think they are too soft. Someone else doing the swinging is also helpful.

The book methond only works if combined with blood letting and a week of Doc Johnson's Cure-All Health Tonic.

I find printing equipment works just as good as a big book. Just wasn't sure if maybe it had something to do with riding. Well It will go away soon enough, probably the next time we do maintenance on the press. I will stay away form webMD thanks for the warning. Even if it is lupus I'd rather not know.

These used to be called "Bible Cysts". The "cure" is as mentioned above, whack it with a heavy book. Years ago the heaviest, and sometimes only, book in the house was the Bible. BE GONE EVIL CYST I SMITE YOU WITH THIS BOOK!

My wife had one too, I suggested the book, she refused. We went to the doc and what did he recommend? Using the book. She again refused and had to sit there and get an injection of local anesthetic, endure getting it cut open, drained and stitched, bandaged, wrist brace (to keep her from splitting it open) and wait for 10 days, have the doc remove the stitches and then heal. All the time risking infection and having to avoid getting it wet. And did I mention the cost? Over $400.

Me? I elected for the book for the few I had. THUMP! And it was gone, besides some stiffness and soreness for a day or two, it was over. If I remember right I had two on one wrist (different locations, all different times) and one on the other. The doc said some people are just prone to getting them. Unless it gets massive and bothers me or looks odd then just thump it and be done with it. We have a stiff, fairly narrow Christmas book that I use, just the right size binding Oh, and the cost? $0!

Not everything that looks like a ganglion cyst is one, and squishing a bunch of puss into interstitial space turns out to be less than desirable.
