Last night I went to Performance bike and bought a new Fuji Sportif 1.3. I havnt road it yet on the road. I like the looks and the fit. I will get some pics up after church if it isnt raining. Has anyone had any dealings with this bike?

looks like a good starting point assuming it fits well the gearing is nice and wide and gives a nice low gear for us big guys in climbing... uses 47-57mm stoppers so you should be able to fit a 28c tire without problem.

the only weak spots I see is the pedals and eventually the wheelset (but I wouldn't worry about that until it becomes a problem)

I had the wheel builder go through the wheels before I brought it home. He said the should be fine for some time. The pedals were cheep test ride junk. They were replaced with Shimano clipless. The bike seems to be a perfect fit for me so far, but I have yet to put any miles on it. I need to find some other clydes near me to ride with.

my buddie has that bike. he loves it. rides in my group. we are a 20+ group and he keeps up fine. the wheels naturally the bad part since thats always the cheapest part of the the bike from manufactures typically. he plan to get some nice wheels this winter. he bought it this summer had the wheels trued only once so i guess it was a great buy for him.

The price was better in store. I have been under the weather and have yet to put any real miles on it. I hope to get it out tomorrow.

I took the Fuji out for some miles today. I gotta say wow. Its so much smoother than the Trek or Spec. It just glides. I'm very impressed with the ride of this one. It seems the bike is better suited for me. No hand discomfort at all , no issues with the bike what so ever.
This may be in part to the quality of the work the tech put into make ready. This is my new goto bike. May look into other Fuji bikes to keep this one company.

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to get this bike and my weight is around 86Kilo.

My maing usage of this bike will be more of mileage and hence thinking of buying a better pedals (not a typical race pedal).

Please suggest me a pedal thatt lasts long and also confortable for riding within city limits.

I'm looking at that bike right now, will not be buying til October or so though.

I have had two sets of clipless pedals, I always have preferred "mountain" pedals which are dual sided....I have Shimano PDM530's right now and am happy with them, bought a $75 pair of Specialized shoes, again of the "Mountain" variety.

I never had an issue adapting to clipless BUT most of my riding does not require a lot of clip/unclip cycles....I will usually only unclip 2-3 times in a 16 mile ride. I did back them off to the lightest tension when I put them on the bike, they have never come unclipped while pedaling.

For around town I like SPD style pedals. There are many brands, here's one.

These allow you to wear shoes like this with the cleats built in and still walk like a human.

I also have speed plays which are good for pedaling but I can't stand them for any walking, even very short distances.
