Yup. I think that's the idea. And I like the comment above above it depicting a "full commitment." Not that you're not committed if you don't, but if you do, it can only mean one thing: you're a serious bike nut. Guilty as charged! lol!!

Personally I go to where the upper thigh meets the crotchal area (TMI perhaps but whatever).

I shaved once just to mess with my coach, he had joked with me saying if I shaved I would get another 25 watts. I got whim one day, shaved and posted a pic of my bare leg on fb asking him for my 25 watts.

needless to say I didnt get my 25 watts.

I stopped shaving because I found myself rubbing my legs to much and enjoying it

I disagree;

I once shaved my legs just as kind of a joke showing up with a bunch of my friends for a big ride (none of those men shave). Over the next month as it grew back, I got ingrown hairs all over the place, which I scratched, and ended up with disgusting scabby, itchy legs until the hair got long enough again.

I do not shave my legs.
I have had road rash.
After scrubbing my wounds, I simply shaved around them, so the bandages stuck well and didn't pull hairs when I changed them.
Done.

Outside season I shave legs from a couple inches above the sharp tan line to the ankle tan line.

There's th reason to keep shaving right there ----- anytime mine starts growing out a bit, I get ingrown hairs, bumps and itching . Been shaving it up for 20+ years now, -- I guess i'm stuck for life , - also been doing my forearms long before that was a popular move with dudes who wear Affliction t-shirts. I used to ride track a lot and a wheel slip means road rash not only on your thigh, but usually your foerarms too - fun (and same issue with ingrown hairs when you try to grow it back)



For Fred --- yes, all the way up -- LOL, whatever else you do in the taint region is up to you, but have had that hair get matted up before like a dog's does during a wet mountain bike race - was not fun

In my group of friends you are ridiculed if you don't. I remember when I raced at the Trexlertown Velodrome. We had a guy that raced Friday nights, the good riders. He didn't shave. Smeone actually put up a preme called the Chris D shave your legs fan club preme.

I love keeping up with sleek skinned riders when out, but then again looking like Robin Williams and sweating like Lindsay Lohan at a drug screening means the Hoff isn't as hot as it can be all matted down. Which is another reason I like full zip jerseys.

What kinda crummy tights and knee warmers r u ladies/gentlemen wearing?

Ma Sugoi subzero thangs keep the leg fur well inside, but are still light and comfortable enough to wear on 50s and 40s days. I've seen good cyclists wearing some pretty sheer stuff to the point where I wondered if he borrowed the wife's tights or something ..a rider as good as that one should not have to wear see-thru tights ... unless he wanted too of course.

I guess now I have to show a likkle blood, for penance...
I don't always ride MTB's on the road, fortunately this was just the kind where you can irrigate the cut with a little with water and keep on riding.

I'm a big fan of having some of that brown-colored medicinal iodine handy for other wounds.

Without getting into a lengthy backstory, I'm a very hairy guy and avoided it for a long time, but started about a year ago and the benefits are surprising. Most importantly, it's just a mental thing. Like someone said: commitment. Taking the plunge means you're serious. But yeah, I was really surprised how much better knee warmers stayed in place. That's reason enough in my opinion.

But at the root of it all, it's just traditional. It's a sub-culture fashion statement, but I'm ok with that.

I don't mind shaving my legs, but I've seriously considered getting my back and backside waxed. I'm a hairy guy who really does not like hair. Plus, the hair on my rear has posed some chaffing problems in the past. Good chamois cream usually fixes that, though.

+1 on waxing. Not that painful, and lasts for weeks and weeks. Do it regularly and it lasts even longer,
