175.02 Miles for me MTD. The vast majority of those miles are on a trainer. I didn't realize how hard it is to rack up miles on a trainer. I'm not putting in quite as many hours as in the summer, but I'm still getting quite a few. Need to ramp it up until Christmas.

IMHO trainer miles a far more difficult than road miles. Ain't a lick of coasting on a trainer. The 3 hours I did yesterday felt as if I did a 80 mile ride yet was only 53

I haven't posted any rides since the first page of this thread. Being sick for two weeks will really cut down on riding!

I did a short session on the rollers today, didn't want to overdo it since I'm just starting to feel better. But, I was glad to ride 10.2 miles, even if it was on the rollers!

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 44.2 miles

Making my goal isn't looking too good at this point.

Interesting that you mention that. I had a friend of mine get some advice from me as he just bought a trainer. The first thing that I mentioned to him was that he shouldn't pay attention to speed or distance. I was actually trying to think about what percentage of effort would be compatible for a trainer and I came up with the number of 65%. I feel like the trainer miles are about 65% of outdoor effort. What you think?

Never really gave it that much thought. All I know is that the 17 1/2 hours I've done on the trainer this month so far has sucked.
Some of my metrics between the trainer and the road:

Trainer; +0.2 mph avg
Trainer; -4 bpm
Trainer; -2 rpm cadence
Trainer; Max HR +5 (FTP Test)
Trainer; Avg Power -4W

That's what I get for building base..

12/1 - 27*
12/4 - 28*
12/15 - 24
12/17 - 18*

Total: 97 miles

* fixed gear rides

Finally got riding again after The Frozen Interlude. We had our Night Rider Christmas Party on Sunday, and afterward I rode over to the tree downtown before heading home. I rode my commuter bike. Later in the ride I hit a muddy trail so now it's a big mess.

Tonight, back to the fixed gear bike. This pic is in a sketchy industrial area. I didn't stop long and get a perfect shot.

Rollin' on the River: I had to work late tonight, so I couldn't do my normal Wednesday group ride. So I got 26 miles in solo. I stopped along the way at the bar where the Night Riders finished their ride and had a bite to eat with them, but for the ride was strictly solo.

The homeward leg of the ride was into a wicked headwind.

Bonus haiku describing the weather:

Heavenly zephyr
Caressing my back outbound
Hellish ride homeward

I'm still sweaty from 15.1 miles today. Gotta keep active to keep the weight off. I'm aiming at sub 200 next year; 15 pounds to go.
I scored a pair of old Look pedals on ebay for $3.51 and $9 shipping. So, it's been a pretty good day.

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 72.4 miles

I'm behind; my goal is 250 miles and I've ridden 72.4 miles. If I ride about 17 miles every day for the rest of the month, I can make it, but it's not very likely that I will ride that much on the rollers.

Being really sick for two weeks put a large dent in my December program.

The roads are covered in salt and "brine", both of which will rust/corrode a bike very fast. I plan on hauling my bike over to Oregon where they don't use salt on the roads, just gravel. The weather will have to warm up a bit for that to happen.

Such is life in the north during the winter...
