Don't worry as my mileage in first two days last year was maybe less than 40. Hope you stick it out and get there! The badge you get is a nice reward

Apparently a nice mental trick is to do two rides in one day. The weather this week is looking like it will stay spectacular so I'm hoping to avoid any kind of illness that will keep me from finishing.
@Beachgrad05 - you should ride TO your GMR ride on Sunday. That oughta stick a nail in any remaining rapha coffin, mileage wise.

Only 25 today. That gives me a total of 182km/112 miles. A little behind schedule but I should be able to catch up tomorrow

http://www.strava.com/activities/102087370

Much hillier today through Carmel valley. Almost the exact the same elevation gain for 25 miles as I had yesterday on 51miles.

I'm out.

Cat had a tooth extraction on Xmas eve that lead to them removing a tumor.

Xmas day and Boxing Day plans ended up getting altered.

Should have done a big ride today but other stuff got in the way.

And now I have to go into work on Monday and Tuesday.

No way I logging a couple of 200+ rides tomorrow and Sunday:-(

I'm at 175 km, which is not quite as far as I want to be because I just know my legs are going to want to quit on me before Wednesday. The wind lately has been unbelievable!

Went for two rides today - one with the family and then I rode home to get me up a little over 50 miles for the day.

Ah well, it's festive, is it not? And time consuming. Those baseboards in the hall way aren't going to install themselves.

^^ nice job!!

I'm thinking either ride down to Point Loma Cabrillo national monument tomorrow or head north to Dana point for lunch. We'll see which way the winds blow me...

Ah, the Greenway Trail. Now you probably know why I hate the eastern half of it... all those GD intersections. I usually ride down Mar Vista to avoid that half and if it's early enough in the day, I'll take Whittier Blvd to the SGRT, otherwise it's the GWT for me. I'm glad it's there despite the aimless walkers, the dogs off leashes and kids riding big wheels in every which direction. You have to expect the worst.

On SART today I experienced kids doing the exact moronic thing you don't want them to do when going by... obviously I slowed down plenty expecting stupidity but one little kid was riding a razor scooter or something on the left side of the path (so going the wrong way) and when his mom yelled "look out" he looked back and cut exactly across my path, not really sure why. Later, I passed some teenager on a bike, did the obligatory on your left thing and he too promptly cut left and forced me off the path. Ha! Nothing bad happened, I expected it both times and was going slow expecting it but it is kind of amusing.

You're rocking this festive 500 thing!

I'm putting in some effort, but I haven't had too much time for big rides, which is the only way to do it, really. I'm at 41%, with 4 days left. That puts me at 58 miles ish a day till the end, or a few 60 mile rides and then fill in the gaps.

I'm at 51% or so after today's jaunt down to the beach - there was a slight tailwind going down and a not terrible headwind on the way home for a change, which was NICE. My legs started complaining after about 35 miles though, maybe I needed more than 12 hours rest between rides.

I should really just suck it up and do 80+ miles so I can take a rest day. I don't really care if I do it at 10 mph either.

Ugh, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Hear ya. Yesterday my a$$ was extremely unhappy when I got on the bike. Today oddly not even a bit uncomfortable, and I wasn't wearing my best chamois (was wearing my performance bibs that I rarely wear cuz they are actually men's). First ride I wore my Bikes for Boobs kit and the chamois in those bibs give me wedgies. Christmas Day I wore my LG bibs that have a thin chamois. yesterday wore my LG shorts with nice chamois. Not sure if maybe my behind is just past being uncomfortable.

SERIOUSLY here!! I hit the wall today around mile 50-70, good things legs started to burn and took my mind off it.

Too bad last Saturday's century didn't count for this otherwise it might be close to the bag for me. I can't get out every day so I'm taking large chucks at a time on this, hope I can pedal some more tomorrow, might be my last chance til Tuesday to touch my bike again.

I had my previous favorite pair of bibs on today...a$$ hurt when I first got on the bike and then was OK till the last 15 miles or so.

I think there's a correlation - I was hauling ass the first 25 miles (bad joke there) and going slower with a head wind (the second 25 miles) gives you time to ponder butt pain.

I'm also 100% not used to riding 4 days in a row, especially lately. I am hoping this sets me up to regain some semblance of fitness for 2014 though, so I'll keep at it.

PS i never made it to Dana Point, broke a front spoke near Trestles Beach so just turned around there oppose to deal the rollers to get down to Pico/101 coffee shop. I ate enough on the bike but only drank 3 bottles...very bad. Good side was that I was only in the dark for the last 5 miles or so

Maybe, just maybe, the abuse of the Rapha "Gentlemen's" race on such light rims with only 28mm of tire, or, was it 25?, at reasonably high pressure? Hmmm,....???? I'm just sayin'....
