I'd make a backup wheelset crack but I have about 4...

jsigone 12-28-13 01:44 AM

wheels swapped, chain is clean but can't find the cassette brush...oh well, now there is at least some contrast between those two parts:lol: My spinergys have a 12-27 on there, yay for bigger gears I can't use on the club ride....otherwise I'd get dropped.

Gotta carry tubeS again....been spoiled w/ the whole tubeless flawless action thing going on here

Too bad last Saturday's century didn't count for this otherwise it might be close to the bag for me. I can't get out every day so I'm taking large chucks at a time on this, hope I can pedal some more tomorrow, might be my last chance til Tuesday to touch my bike again.

Thanks for the pictures, I love driving between dana point and s diego when I'm there for training... can't even imagine how nice must be to bike around there.

I'm barely at 60% and apparently we are expecting bad weather in Houston monday and tuesday... need to haul a$$ between today and tomorrow. :-\

I ended up with an 11-26 for that reason. Anything larger was pointless. If I used it I was watching others disappear up the hill. Even the 26 is realatively pointless on all but the steepest climbs.

I thought you were already carrying a tube, even with the tubeless setup, as your puncture repair kit? Were the tubeless really so reliable that you weren't carrying any puncture contingency at all?

I have a 11/23, 11/25 and 12/27 cassette. The 11/23 is married to my 50mm tubulars. Mostly use the 11/25 but didn't feel like swapping cassettes late last night. Didn't even touch the last two gears on the 27 cassette today's club ride. Legs were surprisingly fresh after yesterday's century, had power but couldn't hold redline too long on the climbs. Some of the guys were surprised I even showed up LOL

With the stans I carry a single tube and frame pump. Both of which has never been used since I switched to tubeless back in July. Yah they are THAT reliable, even off roading it:lol: My only flats in the since summer has been on the new CX bike. I blame cheap rim tape for those and the old ball goat head I got on my Xmas dirt ride.

Today's ride was only 58 miles, wife wanted me to get home b4 noon http://www.strava.com/activities/102433151

At 81% of the challenge, 408km of 500km

I'm at 61%... so 121 miles left to go. I intend to go for a long ride tomorrow and hopefully finish the whole thing off on Monday. My legs feel pretty flat but they're doing alright, it's my butt that's not having a good time. Argh.

Beachgrad05 12-28-13 07:55 PM

As of today I'm at 435km. Probably finish up the 500 tomorrow. Monday and Tuesday will be used to get the extra mileage I want/need to reach 4000 miles for the year. I've already beat my best month ever with 538 miles this month....so by time finished will have a monster mileage month.

BTW NO GMR tomorrow for me.

Honestly, if you weren't such a monster at this challenge I'd probably just quit. Thanks for inspiring me!

And yeah, GMR. I'd probably make it to the gate if I tried right now. Ha ha. If you check out the fitness/freshness graphs from strava or golden cheetah I'm theoretically approaching what I had before I had surgery last year in terms of fitness but the fatigue is off the chart high. I'm going to have to ease up for a week when I get to 500 kms. Hopefully that will be Monday. 70 miles tomorrow and 50 Monday will do the trick.

Woo hoo!

Beachgrad05 12-28-13 09:06 PM

My Fatigue is at 101 now...Fitness is at 52.

Glad to help! I "inspired" two of my teammates and one if their Boyfriend (tho more like husband) to join me in my quest for a little piece of fabric!

jsigone 12-28-13 11:38 PM

gonna need to remember the sunblock tomorrow, face is getting tan lines from my sunglasses:roflmao2:

hammond9705 12-28-13 11:54 PM

I had 48mi today to get me to 325 km. I'm feeling ok, but I don't have a lot of time the next 3 days. It's going to be close for me.

I head back to dallas from sunny California on Monday night. I'll probably need to finish in dallas and it will be much cooler there

Ataru074 12-29-13 06:55 AM

135km to go... Today -should- be a nice day... all in the 60 from noon to 5 pm. My legs are pretty much gone, my sit bones are screaming.
I know that finish today is pretty much out of question.... Monday the weather is going to suck big time and tuesday should be -only- cold... not cold and wet...

I REALLY want the badge... and maybe the tshirt!.

jsigone 12-29-13 12:30 PM

Bam just like that I'm sick...gonna stay off the bike today and hope to find the 3.5hrs needed to complete this Monday or Tuesday.

made by Rapha means a huge markup. I plan on buying despite price.
@jsigone - planning on 100km (60 miles) tomorrow with my friends as they still need miles to reach 500km. Then whatever they need on Tue to get there....so I guess I will be close to 700km end of ride Tue

I'm going ot have to take a chance and see if it is puppy hair afterall - that stuff is soft!

I wonder if it will be Italian sizing or 'merikan sizing. Hm.

Think you'll make the top 50 for women?

You're exactly #50 right now. :) I'm sure the extra miles you'll pile on tomorrow and Tuesday will put you even higher - most people will probably stop when they hit 500.

The men's side is ludicrous, I'm going to be happy just hitting 500. The leader is at 1300km or so. HE did all 500 on day 1, the nut.

Because my pals are short...and two of them need 97 miles to reach 311...I'm going to be riding those miles too. My legs are not happy with me. So tomorrow we are doing 70...:notamused:

TrojanHorse 12-29-13 11:03 PM

I may call the SAG wagon when I hit 50 tomorrow. i'm kidding, a little, but I've been researching where I can go to hit exactly 50 tomorrow depending on where my kids peter out.

btw, yesterday at the trail I have seen a guy that has the whole rapha "team sky" kit including the F* gorgeous gloves + 2 rapha water bottle, the cap and a sort of mask...
he was on a cervelo P5 with dura-ace wheels... glad to see people keeping the economy alive :D
