Life Doesn't Suck Today ... but it Might Tomorrow

I typed this out as a ride report, but it ended up being more of a statement about the weather.

Left work early today. It's around 65 deg F, sunny, calm, dry, and after the winter we've had, this qualifies as "crazy nice." Rode a quick 10 miles with Mrs. Zoxe so she can get further acquainted with her new Cannondale. Tons of cars on the county roads, but everyone was smiling and waving at us. Came home and got a hot shower, then tossed some T-bones and zucchini spears on the grill, sat outside and listened to the neighbor kids squeal. Life doesn't suck today.

Tomorrow - 3-5 inches of snow, then blustery winds. Low tomorrow night of 6 above zero. Yup, dropping 60 degrees in under 36 hours.

Back in the 50s for the weekend.

Boy, do I love Indiana.

Small zucchini, cut lengthwise like a pickle spear (if really small, I do halves instead of spears). Put 'em in a gallon ziplock bag with some olive oil and spices of choice (salt+pepper for us). Shake and let sit while the grill preheats, then remove from bag and toss zucchini on the upper rack of the grill. Turn after 5 minutes. After a 8-10 minute head start at ~400 degrees, put the steaks on. Don't let them burn, remove early if req'd.

For bonus points, shake on some Parmesan cheese.

Yeah... I live next door (Ohio) and forced myself to ride today (I have a flu or something). It would have just been WRONG to not have ridden my bicycle today. Wasn't my first ride of the season (maybe the tenth) but the weather was nearly spring like.

Ah! Ok, i thought maybe you were grilling asparagus (same treatment is also delicious) and just typo'd. I appreciate a good zuch recipe though. We've been known to slice it like pickles, put it in the toaster oven and then top it with parm & bruschetta sauce. Also delicious.

They are calling for 12-18" here by tomorrow. It was 48 out when I got home at 4:30 yesterday!

back into the 40's by weekend, then cooling off, then warming up again. UGH!

And I live next door to you. Just bought a new bike last week after starting with riding a Walmart bike last year. Took my first ride of 2014 and on the new bike on Monday and the same ride yesterday. First time out on the roads in the hills of western PA too since my first handful of riding last year. I couldn't do the hills on the road on the Walmart job so I ended up riding the flat bike trail along the river. I really enjoyed riding on the back roads behind my house on this bike. Both days got to stop for a moment and watch a bald eagle.

I'm in Louisville and the same thing is happening here. I got out for a good ride Monday when it was about 65 here but not Tuesday when it was even warmer. The next time I might get outside is Sunday and I've my fingers crossed that the weather is good by then.

Well my morning commute was wet roads (was still 35° out) and my afternoon adventure back home was full of snow. 2-4" in the roads, about...who knows how much total because there are 30+mph winds.

If It looks like it does out now when I get up at 5:20 am, I'll be calling in... I rarely do in winter, but there is a point where personal safety is more important than making someone else rich. I have plenty of vacation available anyway (4 weeks I think...)

I commuted on Monday, didn't on Tuesday because of the chance of bad weather and I needed to get home quicker. And this morning we had 3-4 inches.

I don't usually complain, but if I had a chance meeting with Old Man Winter I would promptly shoot him in the face. With no remorse.
