I just laid down some money on a new old stock supersix 5. It is a 2012 model black on white. Looking forward to the snow and ice leaving so I can get back in the saddle. Some of the places I go have some dirt but from what jsigone puts his through I should not have a problem. The only concern I have will be the comfort level. I have gone on all day trips with my old aluminum touring and 5-6 hr on my mountain bike, if I can get 3-4 hr on this I will be happy. When my LBS gets a carbon synapse they will let me try both on the trainer to see what I think.

Supersix are great bikes, you should be fine to spend as much time in the saddle as you want.
@jsigone is a nut, don't use his experience as a rule of thumb.

Probably the only really noticeable difference between teh synapse and supersix will be the geometry. You can of course stick a bunch of spacers and a riser stem on a super six but it looks goofy. You really need to suck it up if you have a supersix. The good news is that for the most part, cockpit changes like that are based on what you're comfortable with and not really and "fit" rules.

Post a ride report when you get one and for pete's sake, where are the pictures?

adjust the cockpit to fit and you'll enjoy our super6, I have the same one/same yr but team colors and it's an awesome bike from shoty jonts to 8-9hr rides I maybe nutty but it's still a bike @TrojanHorse

I really want the S6 because I hope to do a little racing, plus it looks AWSOME. The shop will set it up to be as comfortable as possible and as my body gets used to it get it back to racing form.

I dont know about that, there is a circuit I do in the Quebec mountains the has 3 or 4 miles of dirt road.. I would be curious to know what tires he runs when he takes his off pavement.

For the dirty stuff, I have spesh roubaix tubeless in 25c F/R strapped on Stans A400 rims. You can run gatorskin hardshell 25f/28r if you want and that will more more side wall protected from gravel n stuff. iduno if the 28c will fit in the SS6 fork yet but conti tires will run small if you don't have a a wide rim which the stock wheel are.

I had an inadvertent dirt excursion last weekend for about 4 miles. It was pretty unpleasant, either washboard hard dirt or loose sand - the loose sand was treacherous. Other than lack of control in the sand, it wasn't bad (on my roubaix). I have 25mm tires front and back as well.

jsigone is running that stans tubeless stuff, which would probably be a good thing on iffy trails.

I think I'd worry most about pieces of gravel cutting the tire, so a sturdier tire would probably be a good thing.

They say the largest for the front is 25 and maybe a 28 on the rear. I will go with conti tires. I had them on my touring bike. I have a pair of semi-areo wheels that I used on my touring(rigida nova 32h f/r) that are 6 or 7 years old and still almost true after lots of abuse. I will run the stock rims on it when I get my weight down again (rs10 16h front 20h rear)

maybe this one will get more lust, my buddy bought his at the some time & we got killer deals on them. Working at the LBS has its perks, he has dressed his in ENVE/ZIPP cockpit, sram RED, Zipp 303c for everyday and 303 tubs for racing

What size is your friends bike? Was this pic taken with a fish-eye lens? He looks a little big for it.

I'm bout 6'2 on a 58cm slammed 110mm stem & 0* post, he's about 6'4 on a 60cm with on a 110mm stem and 0* post. Looks like he has (2) 10mm spacers on the stock low profile head cap. He's also has a Trek Domane 5.2 in a size 60cm with force22, and a trek Crockett disc CX in a 58 (he said I wasn't allowed to have a disc CX bike without him so he built that from a frameset after I got my fuji) The crockett jumps in toptube size from 570 to 590 but also increased the headtube hieght 30mm and wheelbase another 20mm. He kept it aggressive fitting with a 58 and used a 120mm stem.

Camera is a gopro hero3 with the normal wide angle lens, i used is timed burst mode (3pics burst in 2sec intervals). I was rolling about 6ft to his side when shooting and image is still cropped n rotated some.

I was so close to buying a SuperSix instead of my Ridley from the Trek Superstore here in ABQ. I still can't decide if I'd have loved it more, as much, or less, but they sure have some amazing deals on the bikes right now.

They just didn't have it in stock to test ride, and I ended up liking another bike store a little more (not much -- I've been overall really impressed with the shop) so ...

I think you got a great bike for the dollar as well, and came w/ nice wheelset from the start unlike mine The disc CXer are so versitile where they can go and the ride comfort is really a plus. The supersix is just a faster/lighter bike.....plus there is always the N+1 rule in full effect

Oh, I'm not complaining (much). Maybe squinting wistfully? The SuperSix just looks great -- I am glad that I have the ability to run my 28mm tyres front and rear for my fat arse, though!

The super6 can NOT fit 28c tires in the fork....I tried clearance in the back isn't a problem for 28s.

Nice bike porn here. I don't ride it, but I buy it for my son, the triathlete. He's fitting himself to a Specialized Shiv right now. Moved a Sram red group over from last year's Ridley and we're getting a Zipp 808 front wheel and a Zipp disc for the back.

Only problem is his wide smile as he rides his latest steed. He gets bugs in his teeth.

that bike build sounds awesome but I'd highly recommend a 303 or 404 front with the disc or 808 reaar. Cross wind is a B**** with deep wheels and can take out the front wheel of lighter riders faster then you know it. I know it looks pro as heck but highly unusable in the rear work. If you are ordering it from a local shop, I'm sure they have loaners to let you try which combo to go with before forking over $3k. Post pics when the bike is done

I'll have to talk to him about it. He's definitely a lighter rider at about 150 lbs and he rides a section of highway where he he has semi-trailers passing him at 60 mph. The vortex behind one of them can be deadly.
