Well, we made it! It was kind of an interesting day overall but we knocked that daggum climb out first. Unbeknownst to Tunavic and I, HuffinandPuffin was jonesing to break some personal records so he used his electric motor to get to the top (investigation underway) well before us. I believe Vic and I managed to beat a walker to the top, so there's that. Right about mile 32 we lost Huffin (how do you manage to lose somebody with all that dayglo green on?) and then spent the rest of the afternoon speculating which way we should go to find him... Vic called his alleged cell but when his wife answered we figured out nope, home number. I hope she wasn't freaked out like my wife would have been!

For the record, I'm getting a little sick of climbs where I try to keep my cadence at 40.

I agree TH. Also I'm getting sick of these short rides and am ready for a double century

We had a great time watching Phil kick our asses after the half way point or so He's a machine going uphill. I'm thinking his new handle should be "SeeYouAtTheTop" and for the record I never saw him huff and puff!

Here's my ride: Bike Ride Profile | P.S. Tramway ride plus La Quinta cove near Palm Springs | Times and Records | Strava

We rode for a bit with some members of my club out of Redlands. I'll have a few pics to post soon.

Huffin made it home safe and sound - he actually made it home before we stopped riding around looking for him, so that worked out well. I was getting prepared for a huge serving of guilt if we got to the parking lot and his car was still there!

Short rides... oy vay. I was a zombie by the end of our ride today. I don't know quite what I did wrong, but I think not drinking enough (it was much hotter and drier than I'm used to) and definitely not eating enough. I think Starbucks put something "unauthorized" in Vic's "coffee" when we stopped earlier in the day, just saying.

I will say the fish tacos we had on Taquiz Canyon drive were spectacular. I can't remember the name of the joint... ozzy something. Some nice young looking young woman walked in on me in the bathroom (I swear I pushed the button on the door!) so I'm sure she was traumatized by that. I transformed from glassy eyed zombie into something resembling human after those tacos.

Ruben and Ozzie's oyster bar on Tahquitz.

A bathroom encounter in P.S. - way to go TH - no wonder you made two trips

I had a bathroom encounter right after TdPS at Azul - no it wasn't a "young woman" - more like a skinny dude with dyed blonde hair - called me macho for riding 100 miles. LOL. What else can you expect in P.S.

So attractive women walk in on me, and spiky haired dudes walk in on you.

I'm sure there's a moral here.
