I count my roller miles. Riding rollers can be fun, but it's not nearly as much fun as riding outdoors, and because of the non-fun aspect as the miles pile up, they should count, IMO.

The weather straightened out, it warmed up and I went for a nice ride on the road. I got in 15.3 miles. It was really fun to get out and see the sights; it's REALLY pretty around where I live. I could have done more, but I had to help with a community project, so time was limited this afternoon.

Goal: 175 miles
MTD: 41.3 miles

Shooting for 500km again this month, 20,000', and rehabbing my knee that doesn't like hard climbs right now.

Some of these goals may be in conflict with others, but i'll be a gentle month compared to January, for sure. Focusing on riding up grades, I think, rather than just getting flat miles in.

March 2nd -- 22.4 miles, 1,001'. Snowed, rained, hailed, and windblown. What a wonderful start!!
March 4th -- 20.5 miles, 877'
March 6th -- 18.1 miles, 1,228'. For once, it wasn't brutally windy in the canyon

That's where I was. I dropped my CX Bike off with the crew at Folsom Bike for some much needed TLC and then went off for a couple hours of mtn biking around Granite Beach. That's one of my two favorite playgrounds. The other is Hidden Falls park in North Auburn.

Had a little extra time on the commute home on Friday so went exploring.

Friday's commute mileage was 24.5 miles, bringing this months total up to 206 miles.

Today was the first time out this month second time this winter. Did 9 miles on my MTB pulling Jr in the caboose on the boardwalk in Long Beach. It adds an additional 70lbs so when I finally ride my roadie solo it should pay off. Just working out the kinks.

Today was my first time out on the road in probably at least a year. I'd started in on the rollers last month, but had only done 20-30 miles. Man, today hurt. Had to remind my body what these things called "hills" were. Thought my heart/lungs were going to explode when the grade hit 13% for a short stretch (may have gone higher, but I wasn't looking down at the computer anymore). Ugh, getting it back is going to be harder than I thought.

10 miles, and I have along way to get if I hope to hit 100 for the month.

3-2: 9.2mi just as a nasty cold front came thru. Hopefully things clear by Thurs!
---Got buried under a ton of ice that completely jacked my week up!
3-8: 11.8mi

Good news tho. I've joined a Thursday group ride that's actually on my side of the Mississippi! It starts on the 20th, but the ride leader and I are going to ride the course this Thursday to make sure all is okay. Between Thurs (11.6 estimated), and Saturday & Sunday mornings (planning on 18+ and going from there) I should be able to get my goals back on track.

I wasn't expecting a free evening, but plans got cancelled. And the thermometer in my car said 55F two miles from home, so I broke out the mountain bike for a quick ride. It's going to snow tomorrow, but ten degrees above the forecast meant I needed to head out into the slush and sand and melted snow. Hooray for the first ride of the year and hooray for it not being deep in the sub-zero part of the thermometer.

Legs feel weird, too many hours on a bike on a trainer locked completely vertical. Lots of stops to adjust the bike and slow spots through ice and water, but still, all the trainer time is noticeable, especially considering the 30 pound anchor I was riding and the 2.1" knobby tires.

Little behind schedule on my trainer time, but actually being outside more than makes up for it...

3/3 1h45m trainer
3/6 1h30m trainer
3/8 2h15m trainer
3/9 1h30m trainer
3/10 11.68 MTB miles (roads, slushy trails).

With all of the improvement I can't wait to see where I'm at on skinny tires!

It didn't rain but I don't enjoy riding in 40º weather with 10+ mph winds. So instead, I enjoyed the first day of spring break (3/10) with 50 miles.

MTD - 200.99 miles
