The Great GMR Crash Race Replacement Ride of 2014

When: March 22, 2014
Time: 7:30am
Where: Boulder Springs Road
Destination: Shack/Village/Lifts - You decide!

Who's in? So far, we have the following committed:

1) TrojanHorse
3) BeachGrad05
4) tunavic
5) @HuffinandPuffin
6) Erwin8r
7) @ahultin
8) Sebastian
9) @jeepseahawk (Tentative)
10-52) The whole Unlikely Cyclist team?

I say we make this a ride to the shack if you want, to the village if you want, and to the lifts if [strike]you're an idiot[/strike] you want.

So, who's in?

I vote 8 am as well and I'll probably ride to the start because I'm ******** like that. I need to figure out how to get 100 miles in on one day for that stupid Strava challenge. Why'd they have to go jack it up!

I'm thinking lifts too. You can seat yourself at the diner and eat french fries till the loonies get back.

I could do 7 am too, that just requires a little extra craziness on my part.

Son of a ***.

That snake! Of course, if the Unlikely Cyclists vote to show up you won't be able to keep him away. He's a dirty old man, you know.

I'd have to drive an hour to GMR so 8am is a bit early for me on the weekend

I too have to figure out how to get a franking century in ...freaking Strava

No way am I riding to start. Driving an hour is more palatable....I'm used to that getting to work now driving to Mission Viejo every day.

I'm guessing the turnout for team will be hit and miss...Lisa likely is a no as she typically is in shop on Saturdays. Sundays work better for "special" location rides. (We are doing PV on Sunday 3/16 for example).

1 hr 6 min for me - according to Google Maps. Yes, it's early, but worth it....really. OK, who am I fooling. It's early. It's a long drive. It hurts. Maybe I'll sleep in, too.

Yeah, we're doing the lifts, that'll do ya. Alternatively, you can park in whittier and we can ride to the ride- I guarantee you the ride time will exceed the drive time.

So you are going now? You know, if you bring cupcake you'll have a ready excuse to take tons of breaks and go slow. and if you bring cupcake(s) you'll have lots of friends.

If you bail this time we will track you down like a mangy dog and make you listen to Joe's stories about chemo. Don't do it!

Oh, and none of this "attempt" talk. Everybody we've dragged up that mountain has made it to the shack. It just takes willpower and maybe some appropriate gearing. You'll be fine.

I'm working on the schedule. I'm hoping to, otherwise, I'll never hear the end of it. And I'm not sure if Cupcakes will join or not, of how hard she would be to keep up with.

Got you down! Contrary to all the whining that goes on during the ride, it really is a fun ride!

Do you have a compact front or a standard? If it's compact, don't worry about it, you should be fine.

eja_bottechia did it with a standard... the worst it gets is about 8% and not for very long.

Bah, it's a clyde (and athena) ride, not a race. We're trying to get PhotoJoe to go so you're not last anyway so come on out.
