4/8: 5 miles. Took my stepdaughter to the LBS after school to get a new bike since she outgrew her 20" Walmart bike. She tried 3 different models before deciding on a 24" Raleigh Lily, decked out with a rear rack, a shiny bell, and bottle cage. The owner of the bike shop even threw in a hot pink bike helmet, since she was the first kid under 10 to come into the shop this year. Went straight to the rail trail afterwards, where she smoked me on a 2.5 mile segment (in between road crossings). I couldn't believe I couldn't keep up with a 10-year old after all the miles I put on my bike. On our way back, it started down pouring out of nowhere. and the path is wide open so we wound up soaked when we got back to the truck.

MTD: 5 miles

My new total:

4/2: 1 mile
4/3: 2.25 miles
4/8: 5 miles

Total: 8.25 miles. Which isn't much, but is a big deal for me. And, I may not make my ambitious goal of 50 miles, but I'm going to do my best to try!

What, were you riding naked? LOL. Mid 50's is shorts and short sleeve shirt weather

Got out last night. Made a wrong turn and took the wrong road. Made a lollipop loop instead of the longer loop I intended to ride which only knocked about a mile off the ride, but lost about 200 feet of climbing.

4/1 - 11 miles - 01:15:00 - 0 ft (bike trail with kids)

depends on how heavy the wind off the gulf is... after about 10-15 min warm up it wasn't bad until I got into some winds... also no sun seems to make it feel a bit cooler I guess... I've also spent the majority of the last 20 years of my life in tropic/sub-tropic areas so that doesn't help ;-)... when I got home I realized just how cold I was... my gut "flaps" where numb, my feet numb etc...

The shorts I could understand since riding a bike your legs move the most which generates energy to keep them warm. But 50 degrees is still sweatshirt + gloves weather for me, my arms and hands get cold too easily.

I was also in my SPD sandals with thin socks... I need to pick up some good wool socks for cooler riding... I think a long sleeve shirt and non mesh backed gloves would have helped...

I hope you both had big smiles still plastered on your faces!!

@photogeekgirl, nice one! Miles already creeping up.

As for me, out for a ride again this morning. This week has been the first time to get out for a weekday morning ride twice within the week since my accident last August, so am feeling pretty good about that!

This morning 30.6km. MTD 220km. Target 750km.

Mountain bike race last night added 12 miles to this months total bringing me up to 173 miles for the month. Finished 4th in a field of 26. Considering I just starting mountain bike riding back in December, pretty happy with the results.

Feels good to get some miles on a real bike. 65.5 total for the month so far. Did 20.5 last night but the wind was brutal.
