Ouch. Hope it heals up nicely, and as IBOHUNT says -- let it heal right. I'm guilty of not doing that too many times and am paying for it.

Also, failed my April goal due to work travel; this month is going to be as bad or worse so going to
set a conservative 300 miles, 20,000' of climbing.

May 1 -- 6 miles, 614' -- farming goats heads on the mountain bike. SO MANY HOLES IN THE TUBES.
May 3 -- 31 miles, 2,221' -- to the bike shop for more (airlock) tubes. Sick of the goats heads
May 4 -- 51.6 miles, 2,648'

88.5 miles, 5,492' at 15mph AS

First ride of May was on Saturday, my stepdaughter (her longest ride on her new bike) and I rode 14 miles to the DRIVE-IN theater to see Amazing Spiderman 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Of course we met her mother there so we weren't even going to try riding home after midnight, but the drive-in owners were amazed to see a couple bicycles ride up to the ticket booth. Apparently we were the first bikes ever to enter the drive-in grounds in the 30 years they owned it, they said they've seen RVs, ATVs, motorcycles, limousines, but never bicycles.

5/3: 14 miles

MTD: 14 miles (Goal: 200 miles!)

Nice ride yesterday. Ventured further out from my loop to hit some flatter roads and pavement. It was nice getting away from the 3 mph up and 6 mph down on the brakes and actually pedal the entire trip, though the speed was pretty extreme. I'm not use to riding 28 mph and even with pavement out in the middle of nowhere, there are a lot of holes and rough spots to avoid. Tough to see them in all the constant tree shadows. Funny how I only added 2 miles to the ride compared to other loops in the same location, was hitting high speeds because I didn't have to coast and ride the brakes, the uphills seemed less steep and thus speed was up a bit for those, yet my average speed is pretty much the same, 9.2 mph. Climb was about the same so maybe the hills weren't less steep...

5/6 - 16 miles - 1:42:00 - 1057 ft

MTD - 16 miles - 1:43:00 - 1057 ft
YTD - 160 miles - 15:37:00 - 6573 ft

100km brevet today, extended by riding the 100k to and from the brevet. Rolling hills, nasty headwinds and scattered showers (some heavy). Glorious tailwind for the way back, it's not often the last 50k of a 200 is the fastest section but them's the breaks!

05 May - 27 miles
07 May - 129 miles

MTD - 156 miles.

Haven't rode or run this month. Currently sidelined with Morton's neuroma in my left foot. Got a cortisone shot yesterday and have 2 more to go to see if that "cure's" it.

today 5/7/14: 2.75 miles... 0.75 miles further than before and not as much pain and a faster recovery. Also breathing was easier. I did ride in sprints (ride hard, coast, repeat) and I also stopped about 3/4 of the way through and chatted for 20 minutes with a friend. Maybe breaking it up is the key for now.

11.1 mile- nice ride air filled with honeysuckle. Entertained the neighbors by failing to unclip and falling in the driveway. Fortunately most were out and their yards and witnessed my bike handling skills!

goal 125
