My mileage is way down this month but the fun factor is max'd out. Bought my first mountain bike back in December and started racing in April. What a blast! Second week in a row I took first place in my class of 23 racers.

Added 15 dusty miles to the total today, bringing me up to 128 miles for the month so far.

Shoulder doc appointment today and I'm cleared to ride.
Game on if(!) I can get my foot to cooperate.

Got a cortisone shot on Tuesday and it wasn't much relief. Another scheduled for next week.

The next couple days are supposed to be wet, so I'm not sure if I'll get out for a ride until Sunday. I'm thinking a 30 miler will be nice after the short break.

I'm in... I will get 150+ this month.

5-3: 25.7
5-8: 4.5 - got dropped on a "no drop" ride, then slung my chain doing 25mph+ trying to catch up... ended up in the ditch (managed to stay on the wheels tho!)

MTD: 30.2/150+

Not many opportunities to ride so far this month due to weather but my mileage is a lot better.
5/3 - 20.60
5/9 - 22.42

This was a new route for me. Nice little park by the river at the end of the road.

If I can jump in, I don't have any mileage goals until I get dialed in with what works for my schedule, but I'd like to do a 25-mile ride and a 10-mile run this month.

5/10 - 10.3 mile ride
5/11 - 7.2 mile run
5/12 - 7.75 mile ride
5/14 - 5 mile run
5/15 - 12.45 mile ride
5/17 - 6 mile run
5/18 - 26.2 mile ride
5/20 - 3.2 mile ride
5/22 - 7.5 mile ride
5/24 - 20 mile ride

Two more days of commuting brings my monthly mileage up to 182.

So I'm cruising home from work last night on a gravel road and come up on a ball of snake in the middle of the road. It's a rattle snake and I think a king snake in a life and death battle. Both are pretty good size, measuring about 3 feet long. From what I could tell from a safe distance, the king was taking the battle.

Got an e-mail that the Specialized Demo trailer would be out at one of my favorite mountain bike spots. I rolled in this morning and borrowed an Epic expert carbon world cup for a couple hours. All I can say is Wow! At MSRP $6,750 my credit card should be very afraid.

Did have a little problem though. I was bombing through a single track and got tangled up with a rider coming the other direction. We both went down but fortunately no injuries and no damage.

Add 20.9 miles to this month mileage, bringing it up to 203 miles.

Rode the Lehigh Gorge today. For the first time, I rode it one way, and took the shuttle back to the car. After having a cold one, and a burger at a grill in Jim Thorpe while waiting for the shuttle's scheduled departure, the ride back seemed almost as long as the cycling portion of the trip.

5/10 -- 24.66 miles

Month to Date 71.73 (128.27 of 200 to go)
Year to Date 197.72 (1802.28 of 2000 to go)

.

5/01 zero miles. Shamefully! The weather was perfect, but it was my day off and I spent most of it sleeping.
5/02 9.5 miles on my usual ride in to work

5/03 Saturday: home from work via Pigeon Point, McClendons, Dubsea; 11.9 miles
5/03 Saturday: in to work via Alaskan; 9.5 miles
5/04 Sunday: home Jackson/Alaskan/Daily via 9.1 miles
5/05 Monday: 6.1 F miles to/from Safeway, into work via Alaskan, 9.5 miles
5/06 Tuesday: mountain miles 15.0 + 8.7 miles = 23.7 miles
5/07 Weds: to West 5 and back: 6.6 + 6.7 miles = 13.3 miles
5/08 Thurs: zero miles
5/09 Fri: in to work via Alaskan; 9.5 miles
5/10 Sat: 9.0 miles
5/10 Sat: in to work 9.6 miles

120.7 miles towards my goal of 325 for this month. Got in nearly 45 non-commuting miles this week which was good. Even better was my girlfriend starting to ride again. Now that the weather is nice we should be able to get in more miles on my days off now.
