800k of brevets
100k populaire
60 commuting miles

Adds up to about 600 miles. I'm betting I'll get a few more rides in somewhere, so let's say 700. The problem is, I'm lousy at recording my rides.

Off to a good start with some hill repeats:

5/1 26.19 miles 2500 feet of climbing.

The garmin said 2487 feet, but 2544 last time for 8 repeats of the same hill. I don't know what to believe anymore. Should have been a bit more than last time. Stupid altimeter. I'm claiming 2500 out of spite.

Broke through the 40 mph barrier on the descents for the first time! Soon I'll be a big boy cyclist.

Starting the month out with an epic ride 35.2 miles of windless groupride bliss! Stayed with the main group for the first ten miles at speeds much faster than I usually ride.

The barometer based system on the Garmin has always been not the most accurate but who would or should haggle over 2%?
I take whatever Garmin Connect says it was.

Good luck with that. I'm 10 weeks out from mine and almost back to normal, whatever that is....
Don't go all testosterone when it comes to recovery. Pay attention to what the PT folks tell you... from experience. I don't care how much hay is in the trailer.

Did 150 miles on 14 rides in April. I'm hoping to do the same this month, but my opportunities will be compressed due to weather. It's been raining and in the 40s -low 50s since Wednesday and my first opportunity appears to be Monday. That's 5 days and 1 weekend knock off the calendar. This has been a terrible spring weather-wise.

Goals
- 60+ miles
- Lose 10+ lbs.
-Strength training 3x/week.

I signed up for a 5K in July and a Warrior Dash run in August so I'm gonna have to do some cross training with walking/running. Otherwise I'd be shooting for higher miles.

Nice!

I did the Warrior Dash two years ago ... the one near Lake Geneva. Was a blast!

Awesome! The 5K and Warrior Dash will both be first for me - never done something like either before. I will admit, I am slightly terrified of killing myself at Warrior Dash

Yes sir that would be the one. The real epic part was mile 2.4 to mile 14. Garmin says I had my fastest ever 40K, I took it in spite of no wind and a peloton of 10.

You'll be fine ... the obstacles at the Dash aren't that bad ... and you can walk in between if you need. Good luck!

My May goal is to ride more and eat less than the last couple of months.
Winter in the north east was really brutal this year.

"Epic" - most over used adjective EVER Sorry, one of my pet peeves. Every where I turn now something is "Epic" or folks are adding the pound sign in front of every word. Yeah, I know it's a hashtag IF(!) you want to make a link. I'll see strings of words that all have the stupid pound sign in front of them. Makes as much sense as wiping before you poop.
When I post stuff to social media now I use the word pound sign just to piss folks off. I'm well into my 50's, I'm allowed to do that as a crotchety ol man

PoundSignThis

</rant>

Seems to me there should be a segment from mile 2.5 to 15 on that route. Good place for a FTP test

I rode 106.7 miles in April and I'm shooting for 120 miles in May.

0 MTD my last ride in April was the 30th. Will put some mileage in this weekend.

yes sir I mostly concur with the former part of your post. It is like folks that start a sentence or post with "so" wtf!

That would make a good FTP test however it is normally down wind and the wind around here is variable and gusty often and the first 2 miles of that is infested with stop signs. The pleasures of living in a gently sloping valley, nearly every ride has uphill parts. Glad I don't have the cliffs you ride up.

Just keep kicking me off my cloud, why don't you?

There is actual sunshine outside. Glorious sun. Makes the 51 degree temperature seem like 75. Haven't seen the sun for a week. Hopefully I can escape work with enough sunlight to enjoy a nice 20 miler tonight. I just want to get out and pedal, not push buttons on test equipment under fluorescent lights.
