Why I ride Worksman

I love riding bicycles moderate distances. Just to get exercise and to enjoy the ride. I have purchased some semi expensive bicycles in the past and the components have always broken on me and they are in constant need of maintenance.

I realize that my weight plays a huge part in this. I also realize that most of these problems can be easily rectified at a LBS.

That being said .. I now only ride Worksman. I own two Worksman bicycles that have never broken on me and they have been ridden thousands of miles. I have had to adjust the one piece crank on a few occasions due to some looseness but that is about it.

The other thing I like about these bicycles is that they are completely serviceable by anybody with everyday tools. And if a part happens to break .. Worksman offers all replacement parts. This is something I have not seen offered by any other bicycle company (I am not saying it doesn't exist .. I just have not seen it while researching companies online).

Yes these bicycles are heavy. But ... so am I. So a difference of ten pounds when I am peddling around 300 isnt much of a difference. I ran the same 10 miles on my single speed heavy Worksman and then did it again (a few nights later) on my geared bicycle. I peddled as hard as I could on both bicycles. In the end .. yes the geared bicycle was faster .. .slightly. Only by 2-3 minutes. If I purchased the three speed or seven speed wheel\hub I bet the times would be compareable.

I ride Worksman because they are easy to service by anyone, the components just last, they are MADE IN THE USA!!!, and they offer replacement parts.

It doesn't matter what others think. If its makes you happy and helps you ride then you have found the right bike for you.
Congratulations.

I'll admit that I love my gears too much to ride a single speed, but I agree that whatever bike works for you is the right one. Worksman bikes have intrigued me in the past...

I have never had components break on my bikes (one spoke broke, but that has been it) I could just be fortunate. I actually bent or broke several axles on bikes when I was in high school and weighed 150 pounds, but haven't had any similar problems getting back into cycling and have bounced between 300 and 365 for the past decade.... I definitely ride differently than I used to.

I ride my Worksman for a good hard workout. I jump curbs and ride it in ditches... I just cannot seem to break it.

Glad you found a bike that gets you out riding. Enjoy it! Ride more. Everything that has proven to be defective on my bikes was replaced. Many parts were replaced due to being worn out, chains, brake pads, tires, and bar tape.

i have been interested in worksman cycles
since i read a review on a worksman pizza delivery bike
in bicycling magazine in the 90s

the reason i do not get one
though
is because they do not offer their frames in multiple sizes
and so really only work well for people on a few inches either side of average height

My wife and I both purchased Workman cycles last year after doing a whole boat load of research. We are both larger tall people and both purchased bikes of different sizes. I am 6'4" and weigh in the neighborhood of 450 (working on bringing that down) and my wife is 5'10" and weighs about 300 and we had no issues finding a Worksman that was fitted well for us.

Honestly, the Worksman company President and I exchanged so many emails before I bought that he probably hated to see my name pop up on his email list but he was incredibly helpful and made many suggestions as to what I should have on my bike. He was so helpful and honestly, his assistance is what sold me on the company. We both love our bikes and for our sizes we have no trouble riding them. Email the head honcho over there. He will work to make you sold on Worksman as well. And no...I am not a paid spokeman! LOL

i am a bit taller than you
and I have a pretty strong notion about how i like my bikes to fit
that i would have serious doubts could be accomplished on a one size fits all frame

what model of worksman did you wind up with
and is there a mile of seatpost sticking out of the frame?

There are two sized frames. A small and a large one. I have the small one (I am 5'8") and the seat is still set pretty low. I cannot imagine with the bigger frames anyone having a problem. But then again I really have no idea....

Another worksman 20 mile trip in the books today. I rip through tires fast on my other bikes ... whatever tires they use are crazy .. this bike has about 2000 miles on it and the tires look brand new.

If they sold a 700c frameset I'd buy it and swap out all my components from my Puma Nevis on to one. I have a Nexus 8 speed rear wheel and matching front. I need a better, less LOOONNNGGGG frame.
