No longer 200+ what now?
Hi guys, I'm 5'9.5 and had been 220. I started going to the gym to get myself down a few pounds. While I had a lot of muscle gains, I wasn't dropping much weight. Hundreds of miles of bicycling later, I'm finally consistently below 200, at 195 (in the mornings). I'm hoping to find my highschool weight of 180 or 170 sometime down the road. Does this mean I'm no longer a clydesdale?

You will be still welcome here. I'm less than that now and nobody has shown me the door (at least for being under weight)

Congratulations Panza, what an incredible milestone you accomplished. You ask "what now". Brother, all that I can offer is this: Keep pedaling, or you will be back among us! Being a Cyldesdale is a mindset - you are always welcome.

Chris

Congratulations!
I dipped through 200 last year, broke my foot, and went right back to 220. Work on that mindset, I'm convinced it's our heads not our diets that lead us to obesity. I'm learning to think, about food, like a 160 pounder not a 220 pounder that does a lot of cardio.

There are a handful of us Clyde Alumni roaming the board. At my height, I'll always qualify, but have been under 200 lb now for a year and two weeks (yes, I keep count).
Congrats!

OK, so in all honesty...congrats, and you'll always be welcome here. We may throw tomatoes at you occasionally, however, it's only because we're jealous.

Keep talking, chumps. As a bitter Clyde who hasn't gotten serious enough to lose the weight, and being a mod ...I'm making my ban list!

Man Rik, 175 that's awesome! Most of us can't/won't be able to do much with the power number. But just think what you've done with your power to weight ratio!

Panza, keep the weight loss momentum going by continuing to ride regularly.
I was as high as 210 pounds when I commenced bicycling at age 55 in April of 2011 and at a height of 5’ 7”, I was akin to a well-fed Hobbit. But just recently my weight dropped to 166.4 pounds, which is the lowest I’ve been since I was 19 years old. At age 58, it’s a great feeling to be the same weight I was just after my high school days. It required a total of 5,530 miles of pedaling, but they’ve been some of the most enjoyable miles I’ve ever traversed.

At 5' 9" I've been plateaued at around 170-lbs since last fall. The biking and "smart" eating has really helped me get from my barely clyde status (230) to this number but I'm far from done now. I'd like to get to see 150-lbs again, a weight I haven't seen since before middle school.
Weight loss aside, I'm slower than a turtle and I'd like to turn that around this year if at all possible. I'm sure if I fixed my equipment (buy a road bike instead of an urban/trail hybrid) I'd see a difference right now but that's not going to happen financially any time soon unless some hot deal pops up. The time spent on my hybrid is strengthening my leg muscles, and i've witnessed it doing more than enough to aid in weight loss.

Congrats on the weight loss. I'm 6'4" and 260 pounds now and even if I hit my ideal weight I will still be a Clyde. That's ok by me as this is a hard working and inspiring group of people.
Keep up the good work everyone.

Party like its 1999. I've been hovering at 198. Eventually I'll hit 190 this summer. Then good bye.

You are to be congratulated, great job!! I broke 200 back in December and I've floated a few pounds either side since then. Don't think the work is done, that weight can come back real quick if you stop watching it. I'm afraid I'll have to be on a constant vigil forever.

Congrats!
Wow, same exact numbers as me. I don't think I'll ever be back to the 180 pounds I was while playing soccer in HS and college (added muscle nowadays), but I am hoping to get down to 195 over the next few months!

Perhaps you should create a Clydesdales Anonymous thread for all those non-Clydes who are exposing themselves.
Of course I am speaking as a jealous fellow who can only hope to achieve that goal in the next few years.

Hmmm....interesting idea. And I've been hoping to achieve that goal for the past few years. As it turns out, "hoping" doesn't get you there.
