@PhotoJoe - I can probably guarantee I will be nearby tho you will likely have to wait on me after the hills at the next rest stop like last year. My ride fitness has suffered the last several months with the job.

My goodness, the sandbagging in this thread is strong.
"OH, woe is me, I can't ride anymore, I'll be lucky to even clip one foot in"
Is IBOHUNT riding this ride? Seems like he'd fit right in.

Well...I'm going to back up my talk with action. That is the weekend of my birthday ride where I usually ride twice my age. Since I can't do that this year due to poor conditioning, I'm only going to ride the metric century. Being the cheap bastard that I am, I don't want to pay $85 for a metric century that I can easily ride unsupported. I'll be leaving shortly after noon from probably the Pacific View Mall and make the run up to Sterns Wharf, and back. An extra loop around the parking lot will give me my 63 miles. Then the next morning, I'll do another metric century somewhere to make sure I finish before noon. That will give me my 126 miles, but within a 24-hour period. I'll count that.

I just finished up a 45 mile ride trying to get ready for this stupid ride. I can do the metric for sure. Still a little worried about the full 100. Feeling pretty good about the ride until I found the "side-by-side" comparison feature in Strava. Just goes to show, I'm NOT sandbagging and I AM a slacker!

If you go to Strava, then click on my name, you'll get my profile. Scroll down a little bit and on the right-hand side, you'll clearly see how much more you ride than I do! Climb more than I do. Ride longer than I do. Ride faster than I do. Etc., etc., etc. Sadly, it doesn't give the "excuse-count". I'd dominate that category.

@PhotoJoe - I would love to see our "side by side" comparison but first you have to accept my request to follow. Its only been 1+ year
https://www.bikeforums.net/clydesdale...l#post16537090
I looked for you and can't find you. Send me a request and I'll accept it. How's that "work" excuse coming along for you?

@PhotoJoe I sent the request twice. Once on my own and once again as you requested above.
Not joking, do you know where to look for a follow request? I'm looking at the "my profile" page which shows an overview. From there I click on the "following" tab and I clearly see "follow requested" next to your name.
Now back to joking - I'm "working" on the work excuse.

So you hilly-hundred nut-cases (@tunavic, @TrojanHorse, @HunkerDown), are you thinking of using the Cool Breeze Hilly ride as a warmup for the Santa Barbara Century in October?
Before anyone even asks - NO, I HAVE ZERO INTENTION OF DOING THIS RIDE!
Santa Barbara Century
These are both very difficult rides for experienced riders only. The Metric Century ride is 62 miles with 4000' of climb while the Century ride is 100 miles with 9000' of climb.

No dice, got a home football game that day. Fall weekends are tough - my kids are both up to their eyeballs in soccer in the fall.
I prefer to be a standalone nutcase, I don't need to link it to anything. I really wanted to do the amtrak century this year but flat out forgot to register!
By the way, herb m mentioned a "hotdog" century (as in the food, not the attitude) on August 2... it's flat as a ride can be in SoCal and covers ground from both the Conejo ride and the Cool Breeze. (the coastal flat parts). I'm tempted but I'm 99% sure the Central Committee has a honeydo list as long as my driveway for that otherwise unoccupied day.

I'm registered for Levi's Gran Fondo (Levi's GranFondo) on October 4 and it remains to be seen if my enthusiasm level will be high enough to tackle the Santa Barbara Century two weeks later.
Anybody doing the Tour de Big Bear next weekend?

OK, we're one week out. Any new takers? @tunavic - you "working" or not?
I'm registered for the 100, so cash trumps lame excuses for me!
What's everyone thinking about timing? I'm an early-bird, so I'll be out there by 6am. They say the ride opens at 6:30. For me, I'd like to get as early of a start as possible.
