Congrats. So happy to hear stories like this. It shows that diabetes is reversible if you set your mind to it. I have lost 105 pounds so far and I am currently at 230. I am also a Type 2 diabetic. My fasting glucose levels run in the mid 80's and I am off all my diabetes meds. I still have a ways to go but I am on the downhill slide.

Our son in law's father was able to get his diabetes entirely under control by biking and getting in better shape. Most of us in the clyde forum that have kept at it have dramatic stories, not unlike yours, so thanks for sharing. Now your goal...our goal...is to continue to find ways to make the exercise enjoyable and to integrate it with better eating habits into our daily lives.

Well, I wanted to report back with some very positive news since I started this thread. It has been 90 days of riding, and nearly that long since I purchased my hybrid to make the rides more enjoyable. While the weight loss and lower daily fasting blood glucose levels have been encouraging, the real test would be my a1c results since as many of you know measure average blood sugar levels over time. I had my blood work done a few days ago, and my a1c count has gone from 8.3 to 5.8. For me, that's something to brag about!!!

The weight loss has stabilized a bit since the muscle is increasing, but I'm keeping it between 100-110 miles per week in this brutal heat, and can't wait for the temps to start cooling off a bit. My riding is taking a serious hit this week as I finish getting my son off to college to start his freshman year at Texas Tech University, but can't wait to get back on the saddle next week.

Cheers, and thanks everyone for the encouragement! It makes a difference, and is truly appreciated!!!
