That's a jail which has only one exit. I haven't posted there much. I'll wait until I lose another 10 lbs.

Clydesdales are large, and Athenas are "amazon women;" we get it. Shouldn't "Clydesdale" or "Athena" pertain more to being disproportionate to your weight, not necessarily a number in pounds?
In high school, my cross country weight was 160 at 6'2". In the offseason, I would drop down to 155 from lost muscle. I'm 6'4" now, but if I were a trim 180 these days, I'd probably really like the way I look. 25lbs more to go!

I ran some very enviable 5k times, but yeah-there wasn't much to me.

Dropping carbohydrates is so hard, but it really pays off. I had the same issue; eating and justifying all the food because I lifted. It sure doesn't work that way. My goal isn't weight, it's bodyfat percentage. I'd still be 200lbs or more at 5% bodyfat, so that means I will remain a Clydesdale. Fine with me.

I'm a bit different in that 200lbs is going to be in really good shape. I may be able to dip below but I'm not sure how much. I'll know more as I close in on it. Therefore.... I'll probably match the requirements for clyde all my life.

Yeah well I for one don't want to look like a skeleton so I will never be below 200 unless I'm sick.

I'm on the other side. At 5'8" dipping below 200 is just a step, I need to get in the 160s. For me, 180 seems more like my Clyde number.

Overall I think we all feel that "Clyde" is unique to the person. When I get into the shape I need to be I'll still hang out here as it is all too easy to fall back into old habits, those which got us in "whatever" shape in the first place.

All you supposed Clydes and Athenas who have a prayers chance of dropping below the weight limit:

You're simply "Tourists".

The C&A titles were originated for those who at an ideal, competitive or appropriate weight still can't get that low.

There are plenty of other titles and categories that can be applied to those of you who can drop the weight.

If I drop below 88kg I'm doing well. Not fat, able to ride 400km and have a 31 inch waist at 190cm. At the moment I'm 90-91kg. I got to 85kg but its too hard to stay that light and the only way was to eat like a bird and ride 400km a week (something I like to do anyway). Sadly I felt like crap 90% of the time. Also I looked like a competive cyclist (enormous legs and death camp survior upper body). Don't like the look nor does it fit the work I do. I don't care what I weigh as long as I'm fit and healthy.

I am 6'6'' and 350lbs. However, when I was 275lbs I bet I was in better health and condition than most people weighing less.

With my body type my Dr said my ideal weight is 250lbs....Ill be a clyde forever!!!

I didn't know this. I thought the forum was for what you said AND people who could get below the requirements but had "C&A" topics when riding.

I learn something new here and there.

Here is what I consider a fairly liberal body weight to height chart. Many are lower...but even I think some of those are too extreme.
Ideal Weight Chart

My 6'3" is 216 max.
6'6" is 235
And...
anyone who is over 200 better be at least 6'1"

Me personally, if I can get in the low 2-teens, I'll be about 10 lbs past where I know I'm at my best. At 250, I'm very uncomfortable.

There was a time when 200lbs was a big guy. Like Orange is the new black and 50 is the new 30, 250 is now the new 200.

I'm 6' 2" and my basic body structure won't allow me to get below 200lbs at a healthy bf%. Of course I say that now but when I get closer I may see that I can safely get lower. We shall see.

Which is sad to me. We as a society are accepting it as "normal" because we are some overly-sensitive to hurting anybody's feelings. I always love people where they are but know that most times there is a healthier version of themselves that they could get to.

Is it uncomfortable because you aren't used to it or because it is not healthy for you? I feel odd when I get to lower body weights but it is because I'm not used to it. I don't let that stop me and keep moving on. However it's a real thing. You feel different, people tell you that you are looking different and it is somewhat derailing.

Strive for healthiest, whatever that weight (bf%, etc) may be.

I don't post much, just read. I'm hovering right at 200, down from 220+. The C&A forum has more polite and intelligent conversations than some of the other forums. That's why I like to read here. It's not a jail.

Given the fact that this thread was started by a "tourist" comparing the forum to "prison", I didn't imagine that smilies or little sarcasm brackets were neccessary for my post te be viewed in the correct light.

The really tall 200+ rider and the short 200+ rider will still have valuable information to share on what kind of wheels their bike needs, where to find large-sized clothing, how to appropriately fuel/rehydrate, and how to get up those danged hills.
This forum isn't just about diet/losing weight.

Yep I'm 5'8" too, so my goal was 160 when I started, but I will see what is what when I get there :-).

I know I sure climb my 20-30 flights of stairs a shift a LOT better at 238 than 304 :-).
