Mammoth Fall Century ride and photos

For several months I had been looking to a long weekend in Mammoth Lakes, CA to participate in the Mammoth Lakes Fall Century. Several friends and myself arrived on Thursday. Some of us rode the 70 mile course while others rode the complete 100 mile century.

Here are some pics from the weekend. It started with a hike on Friday AM.

On our way,

About the ride: Best ride I've ever been on. Virtually no traffic - if I remember correctly we only had one stop sign and one traffic light the entire ride. Awesome scenery, sag stops fully stocked with everything you would expect at a first class century ride, a great venue for a century and well organized. I'll be back next year

Thanks HD. They're just cell phone pics as we both forgot our cameras at home. For sure next time we have to enjoy a cold one together.

On another note, some time in the next 2 months a few of us intend to do a ride in your neck of the woods. I'll let you know when. I'm thinking maybe one of the CVC rides on a Saturday.

Great photos I've fished there a few times in the summer and have been to a few of those spots. I'm going to try and build up to possible making the ride next year.

Nice. I understand the wind was pretty stiff by the afternoon. How did you do?

It was quite windy the last 10 miles or so. I couldn't wait for the ride to end.

As far as how I did, a certain nutsack (me), didn't have a fully charged Garmin 500. It died about 1/2 way into the ride so I have no idea. But this I do know - I had a TON of fun and will ride this one again!

Next up is Lighthouse Century in San Luis Obispo. I've heard many good things about that one too.

@PhotoJoe, plan for this one next year!

No joke - I don't remember exactly but maybe 1 traffic light and 1 stop sign. It was difficult but so WORTH IT.

Am I reading it right that you did the 70? How was the effort compared to Cool Breeze?

Mammoth is at the top of the "must ride" list for me. I LOVE that whole region. Photojoanne would want to go camping for the weekend. Probably at Oh Ridge at June!

2 of the gals and I did the 70. The other gal did the century. Cool Breeze was much easier.

My idea of camping has always been a hotel room without room service. I don't know how but I'll be at Mammoth again next year!!
