Planned on riding a 25 mile loop I've done many times before, got 5 miles out through a horrible headwind (gusts up to 30mph) and it started to downpour. Turned around and made it home soaked and freezing cold. The sad part is the radar didn't show any precipitation today, guess it's time to dig out the rain jacket just in case. Will do the 25 mile loop tomorrow weather-permitting. Also intend to ride a metric(+) century this weekend, rain or shine.

10/6: 12 miles
10/7: 10 miles
10/8: 10 miles

MTD: 32 miles
Goal: 326 miles
YTD: 1451 miles

Nosir, just pushing it. I'll shoulder it in races if I need too but when I am not racing I have a bottle cage mounted that interferes with shouldering and shouldering gives me bruises.

i thought the bottom of the top tube is flat on the crux? It is on the fuji though I only used it a couple times that way.

Socal cx races are dry and hot 95*+ til about november, we MUST have water. I ran the cage on the seat tube, it doesn't interfere too much there and can quickly get my arm and shoulder through the main triangle.

Yeah the Crux tt is flattish in profile, perhaps my shoulder is just too large and bony for my 54 cm frame size. I have wide shoulders with short arms.

failed lunch ride, 2.7 miles

Swapped a tube at the start of the ride, rear disc brake pad flew out when I removed the wheel from the bike. Installed the pad but never seated correct again. 6 stops, 30 mins to go 2 miles I just turned around and went back to work

I'm aiming for ~300 miles for October. So far I'm a bit on the low side but I have lots of time to catch up!

Everything this month is mostly outdoor on the road bike. I'm saving my mountain bike for rainy days and my indoor recumbent stationary for the really miserable rainy days.

Low intensity CX skills practice early this morning with the team and some slow miles from home and back for 36 miles.

MTD 202 miles.

CX racing tomorrow. If the legs and lungs feel good I'll hit two races. If not ... or if the beer flows too freely .... only 1. Either way it'll be a great day in the saddle.

Hard fought 60 miles in four hours today. 10-15 mph headwind from the NE seemed to be at my face for most of the run. When it was at my back, I could really move though. Peak speeds of 25mph; slowest was 12, most of that up hill at the end. I was pretty beat.

Hit my weight targets early this month. 235lbs for the morning low and 240 and under as the evening high. Maybe 230/235 is in reach by 11-1.

10/7 1:15 on the trainer with 3x9 minutes hard
10/8 24.48 miles with 3x10 minutes hard
10/10 30 minutes on the trainer
10/11 79.08 miles of good hard riding. I thought it might be one of the last times I could get a hard long ride for the season and it was my best ride of the year. 4:38:57 including my brief stops for 17 mph.

Month-to-date 196.37 miles plus 2:15 on the trainer, but I hope to get outside this afternoon to do a few miles to loosen up.

Another fun weekend of CX racing. Near the end of the race I wasn't a contender for the podium so took the opportunity to grab a snack. https://vimeo.com/108745916

MTD miles up to 213.

After nearly a week of being off the bike due to a chest cold. Laying in bed hasn't been a big help for me clear my sinuses, but I thought a nice brisk ride in the autumn air would. Wind was minimal and the sun was shining so it really was too hard to pass up a ride today.

10/6: 12 miles
10/7: 10 miles
10/8: 10 miles
10/12 : 15 miles

MTD: 47 miles
Goal: 341 miles

83 MTD, a shade behind schedule, but I'll make it up no problem.
Didn't do so well last week with bad weather and bike problems limiting the miles.

10/7 - 9
10/9 - 5
10/11 - 54
10/12 - 16

167 MTD. Still behind. Hope the weather holds this week. 18 days to go and 258 miles left on the goal. That's 14.3 miles per day. Weekend plans are building up, hope I can get it done!
