Post-op

I had gastric sleeve done yesterday morning. Currently on clear liquids only and walking as many laps of the hospital floor as I can stand.

staff is great. the whole program here is great. very detailed eating and exercise plans for the first year post-op, when to introduce solid food, when to introduce starches (if ever), etc...

as of now, and I'm only a week out, but I'd recommend it. recovery was really not bad at all. Only thing holding me back is I need to get more protein in, but that's hard when you're just not hungry at all...

What's your solution for the protein intake? Protein powder, or something else?

Update: I've lost over 60lbs since September 30 and over 40 since surgery. Under 350 for the first time in 15 years and quickly headed towards a 2 at the beginning of the three digit number! Goal weight is 220-240 (I'm 6'5 and that was my Bball playing weight in college), so I've got a ways to go, but I'm happy with my progress. If you're considering surgery, I can't recommend the sleeve enough. I feel GREAT with none of the side effects commonly associated with roux en y.

13 more lbs! 336!!!! Under 300 before cycling season arrives and hopefully 260-275 for my June 27 triathlon!!! Anyone considering surgery, I highly recommend looking at the sleeve over Reux en Y. No malabsorption problems so far. No real issues at all so far. I'm thrilled with how this is going.

Congratulations on your success! I had the sleeve done a week before you and I have to agree this is much better than the roux en y, especially after hearing constant dumping syndrome stories from others. Good Luck and keep posting results!

I started at 445 pounds and lost 45 pre-surgery with the paleo diet. I'm now 335 and feeling great. I still need to drink more water. All the protein can constipate you so the occasional shot of milk of mag is necessary. Other than that I have no complaints.
