Sebastian and I and possibly Meckena on the tandem would be down for the Pizza Port 80 depending on scheduling.

I'm not in, but you can officially call me jealous. Rides in February, I'm just hoping there is no snow on the roads, but experience has shown it isn't likely.

The Burrito/Pizza ride sounds fun. I would be up for that and to meet some of the local riders.
Amtrak now limits bikes out of San Diego, and you need to reserve a spot. Found this out during the summer. You can ride to Oceanside and take the Metrolink back for $10, and there are plenty of bike racks available.

That is a great tip and I totally just stole your avatar for use on another board. Thanks.
It *might* be hard to ride back to oceanside after the requisite amount of pizza and beer but - there's a pizza port in Carlsbad too, which might work and leave a shorter commute back to the train.

Just a quick update - and bump for people's planning purposes. I don't see anything saying the Crash Ride is on or off. Last year, there were some LA City politics that had it on, then off, then just hours before the event, on again. I fully expect it is on, and will be bigger than ever!
PhotoJoanne would like to be a part of the Pizza Port 80. She's been nursing a very sore knee, but is making progress. She asked if we could look to April for that ride. I think that works better, anyway, just because of more light, warmer temps, etc. So, that's my plan. Feel free to post avails for April. I know the Wildflower Century is the 25th and the TdC is the 26th, so we'll avoid that weekend.

Can't do the palm springs ride since it's on V-day, but I'm definitely doing the crash ride and may do the pizza ride also if I can get into shape. My longest ride to date was only 37 miles, but it was at a fast pace so I'm sure I could have squeezed out a little more. I'm going to try and get in more than 1 ride a week and hopefully I can eventually get to the end before all the beer is gone!

I'll play by ear on the April Dates.
Spy Belgian Waffle Ride is on April 26, that will be a BIG goal for me. I missed last yr due to some dumba$$, so will make it a point to attend this BWR

Photo: Just a suggestion option for the SD Century... I did a 50 miler last year (for the life of me can't remember the name but will try and find it) that was actually a Century (the route repeated twice). It started in Carlsbad and just before Torrey Pines, turned left and went out into a Solano Beach residential area. I am not saying do the same route but if you start from Orange County, ride down into SD and then add this option (no Torrey pines but extra mileage through Solano) I think you will make close to if not 100 miles. Personally I hate the riding into San Diego proper; way too much traffic.
As to the mileage and elevation: 5000 ' over 100 miles is not too terrible. The route, as you know is constantly up and down; very rolly especially from OC down. But other than Torrey Pines, no crazy hills either.
Lastly a good time to do the ride is just before school gets out (late April/early May) and the beach traffic is not yet crazy. Daylight until about 6:30 - 7pm should be plenty of time. And it should not be hot.
Lastly, and most importantly - the availability of Amtrak... can't count it on. Make sure everyone has a contingency plan - someone who can come down and pick them up if necessary. Of course option is to Loop... start and stop at the same location. If OCR Rick is reading this, I bet he could provide some good route suggestions... one of my favorites would involve coming up the San Diego Creek trail and do Santiago Canyon (yes there's climbing but after that not so much) and then take the bike trail that starts at Cook's Corner and ride that down through Lake Forest to Aliso Viejo, out to Crown Valley, PCH and then back up to the Creek Trail again. You can easily put together a Century that way and nice thing about a Loop, lots of bail outs!

OK, here's the latest on the Crash Race/Ride - I posted "Where does the Crash Ride stand for 2015" on Wolfpack Hustle's FB page. The reply was "it's more like sitting than standing". I have no idea what that means. There were LA City politics involved last year that didn't get resolved until about 10 minutes before the ride. There were threats of ticketing and arrest by LAPD, but in the end, the event went on, although they did modify the course for us (it was right after the Boston bombing). All of this uncertainty DESTROYED the turnout. It was about 20% of what it was the year before. Very sad. All this to say, I have no idea where the ride stands (or sits). I'll keep my eyes open and hope it's on.

Huh, I thought I'd be out of town for the crash ride but it's BEFORE my annual, cherished mancation. Looks like I'm in if it's on!
I'm sorry you thought last year's ride was VERY SAD. If I were more sensitive, I'd take umbrage.

And just to be clear, I could be running a 60T in back and I'd still be whining!
