I am working at Jax Bicycles in Long Beach currently. I had the opportunity to orders 2015 Domane 5.9 Dura-Ace for dirt cheap as a result. Pulled trigger today and bike should be ordered by Monday and likely arrival will be end of coming week.


I will be selling my Bianchi as I don't need it and prefer my Madone for how it fits better.

I like the Bianchi however it is not as comfortable to ride. I have hip and lower back pain when I ride it despite having it set up similar to Madone. Not sure what the issue is. I need to reduce my bike stable by one to accommodate the new bike to prevent divorce. I've wanted a Domane for quite some time even before getting the Bianchi. I could not pass up 35% below cost for reaching Ninja status in Trek University.

YEA!!!! Congratulations on the new ride. I really believe that "designed in Waterloo" does make a real difference. I bought a Trek in July.... and sold three of my collection to completely cover its cost (that's my story... and I am sticking with it). Anyway... hearing that it didn't cost anything AND the herd got smaller made my wife happy.

You'll love the Domane. I bought a 6 series project one in April with ultegra DI2 and love it. The project one program is an awesome way to buy a bike, I was able to spec it out exactly how I wanted from drivetrainn, crank length, bar type, width, color and type of bar tape, cable color, seat, you name it. I was able to order with the cheapest wheelset available since I've already a very nice set to put on it and kept those as a back up.

What is Trek University?

It is an educational tool for employees of a Trek bike shop. You watch various module videos and take a quiz worth points from 10 to 50 points. Once you reach 3500 points you are awarded Ninja status. There are rewards at each level: first reward is bontrager front/rear blinky lights, second reward is a set of bontrager tires and at Ninja you get a bontrager saddle plus one purchase per year of a bike for 35% below cost.

I still need to turn in my other reward forms (need to figure out which tires and saddle).

According to store mgr I can write off bike purchase as Im "required" to lead shop rides. I must sell something so the Bianchi will have to go.

Trek University sounds amazing. Hmmmm....maybe I will find a nice bike shop to work in part time after I retire.

Lately I've not been riding enough....weather and some other stuff like getting a colonoscopy taking up my days off. I signed up for Tour de Palm Springs which is Feb 14. My Uncle lives there so will always do that ride. Bringing the hubby with since it is Valentine's Day. Make a weekend of it.

Very cool, I got $300 back in a fitness reimbersment for my 4.0 Domane. Which I promptly spent on more bike stuff.
The Domane is a very nice bike.

I am thinking of coming down. I dont have anywhere near the miles in currently for that ride, but still may do it. Its flat so may be a good start to my pain!

Never had a Domane before the one I just ordered.

You may be thinking of how I had a 3.1 Madone and had a booboo on it such that I ended up replacing with 4.5 Madone (this happened in 2012). I still ride for the women's shop (The Unlikely cyclist) and help out but her shop too small for full time hours. I got the Bianchi from her shop last spring.

I am keeping the Madone.

Which one is the relaxed frame and which is the race? Is Madone the relaxed one?

and I thought I had a bad bike habit lol, now I am down to one, but its a good one...of course this year the wife wanted a new one, so that was enough spending in bikes for one year

So the bike likely was ordered today. I had to re-check what I was paying as I learned the price was more than I originally thought and I needed to find out how much. I figure this is the one time I will be able to afford a Dura-Ace Bike so I went for it.
