I ask as they both can use the BKool app to run the trainer and the app is interactive so we could ride together on the same route (you can ride my routes with me, I can ride your routes with you), and if one wants one can race each other too.

I am just seeing how many others would ride with me as I have the BKool trainer/simulator and am enjoying it. Last month I put 106 miles on the trainer by GPS data plugged in for the routes.

Timely post, as I've been looking at updating my old Cycleops Fluid 2 to an electronically controlled unit to allow that kind of interactive experience. I looked at the BKool and thought them cool, but then caught wind of Zwift, so the closed system of the BKool and incompatibility with Zwift due to that turned me off.

However, I'm deciding between a Kickr and a Cycleops Powerbeam Pro, so if I decided to pick up a Kickr, I'll let you know and see if we can give the Bkool online thing a go!

I didn't know the Bkool software was compatible with other trainers, so thanks for the heads-up on that.

as far as I know the software/app is only compatible with its own brand BKOOL and Wahoo Kicker trainers. At 370 pounds I have put over 150 miles from 01 November 14- present on my BKool Pro (the black one that has a little wider base when you pull out the telescoping leg extensions).

They've recently added Elite's RealPower line of trainers. The Bkool indoor simulator has just been updated as well.

Changes in current version:
  • Write on the road: Spectators in 3D mode can write messages on the road (limited to two lines of 7 characters).
  • User registration from within the simulator.
  • Wind: You can chose whether to have wind simulation or not. Wind speed and direction are retrieved for the particular location of the session.
  • New 3D models for cyclists and bots.
  • Type of opponent (bot, ghost or human) is indicated in session ranking.
  • Training notes: the user can write a note on his training.
  • Non-controllable devices: You can now make a session with one of these devices: power meter, speedometer, cadence meter or heart rate strap. You can even perform a session with no devices at all.
  • New pairing screen.
  • Guest mode: sessions can be completed without logging in or any need to register.
  • Live session search: new filter added to allow user name or session name text search within live sessions.

  • Negative countdown problem corrected.
  • Windows screen saver blocked.
  • Fixed session time miscalculation in slow computers.
