I really think I need a lot more time in on the bike. This is the 3rd week of riding once a week on Saturday morning and the 3rd week I've been sore for 3 days after. Week 1 was 37 miles, week 2 34 miles, and I got a flat this weekend without a spare so I did 17 miles before the flat and had lunch and did another 15 after the flat. Sadly my legs are yet again very tender and sore.
see if your doctor will write a script for exercise. My VA doc wrote a script for one hour exercise daily with a heart rate monitor. By having the script it makes the heart rate monitor, bikes, bike clothing, repairs to bikes a tax write off.

I see that you have mileage goals, are there any fitness goals associated? For me personally I have fitness goals in mind and to reach those goals I have to create workout goals as well. I can't lose 40lbs without figuring out how I will lose that weight. Being that this is in the Clydes forum I am wondering what end result you want to have.

I do what you are doing. Some people don't think about it as much and just ride and by being conscious of everything around it things work out. Doesn't work for me as my mind isn't wrapped like that. I have to plan and train. Makes it fun and interesting for me. Whatever gets it done.

I too bought a BKOOL Pro (in October 2014) and so far have ridden it for 31 hours (24,500 calories) typically at my 90% HR for 60 minutes, and along with some other outdoor riding I was able to get in, I have lost about 12 lbs (207 down to 195 lbs.), and that's with some heavy holiday eating and imbibing. The BKOOL is such a great trainer, and is really quiet, so my wife allows me to keep it right in the living room, so I can ride almost every day in the winter, while spending time with the family or watching TV or a movie. I also bought a heart rate monitor chest strap so that I can straddle a specific 90% target heart rate (aka Zone 5) for the majority of the 45-60 minute workout. No HIIT for me, I'm more of a HISS rider (hi intensity steady state).

Riveting, try this route: Bkool - Session summary This one is near me and is eleven miles of roller coaster. Look me up and friend me David Gray in Boardman, OR. we can ride together sometime

I ride my trainer facing my computer with the bike placed behind the sofa where my wife and kids are when they are watching TV.

I find a nice Bluetooth stereo ear bud set playing music helps me to keep the pace, and since I am in my living room I don't have to worry about traffic

I used to have a bunch of "fitness" goals that come and go. Bottom line is time. Between a demanding job, new child I have little to no real free time to set fitness goals to be honest. As it is it's tough getting 2-3 hours of time to get in a 30 mile ride each week. Trainers are nice, but come with an extra costs so it's not an option. So for the mean time i'm just trying to get as much time on the bike and eat a little better. Every once and a while I'll find time to run down to the gym setup in my community and get an hour or 2 in before hitting the sauna / jacuzzi after a long ride.

Well in Boardman, Oregon where I live it is very easy to find a person as people walk on two legs upright (well until I get tired and then I resemble big foot or a gorilla) and the cows walk on all fours

Medical expenses are only deductible by the extent they exceed 10% of adjusted gross income (unless you were born before 1949, in which case you can still use the 7.5% pre-ACA floor).
