so the sag driver needs to be prepared, he maybe rescuing everyone!!! I myself may just opt to go down after the Shack and I can help sag as well... will just have to play it by ear... if nothing else, how about we all meet and go to Starbucks and just get to know one another!
BTW - I did the snow thing already.... several years back when the snow level was around 1500' Kathy and I rode up Maple Springs (on mountain bikes with wide knobby tires). She made it to the top, I wimped out 1/2 way when some riders came sliding down out of control on the snow and ice... it was interesting to see but not my cup of tea... will see if I can find those photos and post them later..

Is there an alternate date if rain/snow forces a cancellation? The following weekend maybe?

Agreed. I'm a So Cal boy born and bred. Therefore, I am a wimp when it comes to riding in bad weather. I'd be up for reschedule, though.

Weather people can't forecast rain in socal 1hr ahead of time none the less a week out. Their fancy computer models can be wrong. Let's not give up hope til at least Friday or Saturday. I say 90% chance cloudy and 5% chance rain haha

You're right. They're better at making fancy graphics and dramatic music and proclaiming "STORM WATCH 2015"

I've been a member of BD since inception, but too much drama at times so I only post as needed or read trip reports. With getting married, saving for a house and now a newborn my fishing has been cut back to a few trips a year for some time. I still get out though. Can't believe guys where bagging blue fin in January lol.

Well as to the weather... Kathy has already told me she's out if its predicted to be cold/wet/snowy... I am free the following weekend and will check with Kathy to see if she is as well.
Nice thing about the ride being Sunday... we have Saturday to assess and coordinate. For me I need to do this ride sooner than later, before I "chicken" out and say the heck with it... I will begin my weather prayer now hoping weather is nice, sunny and cool for Sunday...

Rick - I plan on riding... and I hope the weather cooperates for this Sunday...because I realize I won't be able to ride the following weekend (although Kathy may) as I am having eye surgery (Lasix) the 5th... so for me its this weekend or nothing... Plus I started tampering off in preparation and it would be "sucky" to waste good riding time if the ride doesn't go off on Sunday.
My plan - ride if not rainy - rainy I reluctantly bail. Cold does not bother me... Kathy may bail but hopefully she can try again some other time.

SoCal GMR Ride - March 1 - Who's in?
I'm going with cold weather gear most likely. Last March I was frozen to the bone after descent from shack and it took me all day to get warm again.

When I was finally able to get into the car, I turned the heat on full. It helped but when we stopped to eat, I got into the restaurant and Kathy and I sat for an hour just shivering. I left a puddle of water on the seat. I'm sure the other diners thought we were weird. We just sat there rocking back and forth... I could not even eat.
I'm sure Kathy is remembering how "fun" that Maple Springs ride was... I guess the thing is to be sensible and not take risks. If temps start to plunge theny we need to turn back before the chill sets in... funny and I was (and still am) worried about it being hot. It still might be - March is that weird month where it can be frezzing cold and blazing hot, maybe all in the same day!
Again will wait and see how Saturday turns out and assess... everyone check the website...

I just hope we get either beautiful weather, or a real storm that makes it obvious not to go. This 20%-40% is-it-or-isn't-it stuff drives me crazy.

this just reminded me to order another pair of Defeet wool gloves. I lost mine on Saturday's ride on the dirt. Must have fell out of my pockets Good thing they are only $14 on Amazon prime

Oh yeah? Which ones... my current gloves are really only good down to about 50. My fingers were DANG cold 2 years ago at TdPS. I should break down and get some warmer socks too.

Been using these for the past year. Also have the shoe covers that works well when dry but cold.

Is someone willing to send me a cell phone number or email so we can keep in touch. I figure to get there in time, will have to pick up Kathy before 7a... if whoever is local can let me know the prospect is not good early enough, will save Kathy and I the hassle...
ALso OK so I will already look the dork by riding a mountain bike... may have to attach a rear bag (if I can - I have one that's lightweight I use for touring and commuting) to carry all my needed clothing items.... oh well... whatever... it's an adventure!

Might be in depending on the weather. Says it's going to snow at the village and lifts. Are you guys meeting at the high school?

If everyone who has expressed interest is able to make this ride, this could be the biggest GMR ride the C/A forum has every put on - at least in my days here. Right now, we're at 20 people!

luck might be on our side. weather.com has it a 60% PM light showers at the village. Might be less on the lower slopes. The good thing is that there will be almost zero motorcycles up there
pack your rain capes, shoe covers, & gloves!!
Who lives the closest to the hill that can give a more accurate live weather report Saturday night or Sunday morn?

If it is not raining that morning, I plan to be there, if nothing else I will climb to the Shack and maybe call it a day. If Saturday it rained and/or snowed on GRR, I am not interested in dealing with ice and the cold. If it only rained, then I suspect things will be OK.
LIke I said for me its this weekend or probably never... just so anxious to get it done!
