No longer a fair weather rider

I've been trying to get in more miles in 2015's off season to be better prepared for spring. Until today I've been a fair weather rider, no rain no snow. Last month I had 200+ road miles and I figured I'm going to have to get out more if I want to keep the momentum going so....

Only 11 miles but it's a start.

Brr! I'm glad I live in So Cal so I can be a weather wimp and still get in over 100 miles per week during the winter. Congrats on 11 the hard way!

Nice!

Winter rides have a charm all their own.

I need to get a bike I can ride in the snow. 25C road tires and snow don't strike me as a solid combination of factors in staying upright...

What sort of tires are you using?

I was pleasantly surprised about this, and fully agree.

I had a mishap last year with a patch of ice and decided this year I would invest in a set of studded tires, well worth the $$$

After a little research I decided on the 45 NRTH Gravdal tires in 700x38. I have no complaints

I hope to get more winter miles this year. Unfortunately due to a cycle accident last August the damp cold of the West Coast of Scotland is causing all kind of pain in my titanium addition to my femur.

I too used to be a fair weather rider only and then I picked up a fat bike in December and all that has changed. Now I have no excuse.

I still don't ride in the rain.

I've gone in snow, ice, even blizzards. Just don't like rain .

Hoping for money for a fat bike one day; right now I use a regular mountain bike with Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro tires.

I don't like the rain, except on a very hot summer day..which are extremely rare.

A couple years ago I rode a department store mountain bike with 26" studded tires nothing more. Froze my arse off most days but never had a problem with slick roads or deep snow drifts. It wasn't something I found enjoyable though, so I wouldn't choose to do it again if I can help it, although a fat tire bike does look like a lot of fun...

Hoping to get back outside in early March this year, earlier than my usual April 20th season start.

I am in the same boat, but riding in the cold and now snow I hope to also ride in the wet weather too.

Another snowy morning, 12 degrees has become more bearable now that I've learning how to properly layer up.
