after my son passed, life was really hard ,felt like i was robbed ,worst thing was finding him ....still struggle with that .the mind still plays very real harsh tricks on me , got tired of being fat ,all my work friends are getting sick ,out of shape with health problems ... lazy ,and plus i havent seen any old fat people lately. my youngest son and his girl just had a child and i need to be around for him and my step daughter and our grand children, some guys from the firehall ride road bikes ,so i got on with them ,and so far its amazing to get out and see gods country.
most importantly friday i made my best ride 28.5 miles 2hrs 7 minutes 1111 ft of gain, and went out to where tyler wrecked at,and at the halfway point of my ride and spent some time there and rode back ,
"My trials in life are a measure of Gods confidence in me"
I enjoy the time God has left for me here on earth, I WONT!!! take it for granted again..... so i ride,,,,, and my goal is to be at tylers death weight which was 225 I was 312 now 301 and i wont dissapoint him, i pedal on for him,,,,,,

Hey...that's a pretty good motivation...
There is a saying that you should be between successful people, if you want to be more successful in your life. Same with seeing people who struggle....you don't want to be like them. Always keep the eye on the positive target. And even better - help yourself and others to feel better and to be more healthy.

Besides many of the reasons stated here (health etc), I really love getting into awesome shape through biking because, and this might sound high schoolish, but I think its sort of cool to be the guy (or gal) who is in amazing shape at work or wherever and completing rides or races that others think are "insane." It sure beats '30 minutes on the eliptical.'
Your drinking, smoking and couch potato buddies will change their minds when you deliver their daily pills from CVS on your bike when you 70 ;-)
Nothing wrong with winning races, feeling good, keeping right weight, feeling healthy, and being happy...

Some say bicycling is for kids...I say it's a way more interesting and rewarding thing that most people do.
