When I lived in Don Mills I worked there and commuted after work to avenue rd almost every night to St Hubert's, I barely sweat then... Eastern NC is a tad more Humid than Toronto....Sometimes it's a little more than a little Deodorant can handle....like swamp ass....Monkey butt,

Hi, I am the OP (I guess that means original poster) of this thread. I finally decided to actually try a road bike. Today I tried the Giant Defy 3 and the Giant Revolt. Respectfully - no. This is not for me. You only know by actually trying. I am going to stick with my Trek road bike (with thinner tires). And I am going to smile at the 250 pound fatties that whiz by me on road bikes. I am happy with what I have. It is just after reading and reading you begin to wonder is there anything better? Geez...haven't we all done this with our wives???? I love my Trek and Spiderflex saddle. I love dressing 'unorthodox' with my hiking pants. I love when people tell me 'how to improve'. On my 11 mile trip to work I get two things - arteries of a 20 year old and a time to clear my mind (mental health). Geez, I guess we're scared to mention God here right? Believe it or not, while I ride my Trek on bike paths I pray. I have so many wonderful things (which I've worked really hard for). It is really a nice experience. And, as always I ride alone. By all means, feel free to shoot down my post.

You have to feel good and comfortable about what you ride. I is ultimately your choice. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Your bicycles pay for themselves, so if you have the storage space, then go for it. I have two bikes that I switch between (I have a third that I need to rebuild and put into play). Figure out how much gas money you are saving a week a month a year and budget a portion of that for your bikes.
So yeah get that road bike and if your current ride is more pleasant then you have the roadbike as a back-up and or for those days you are short on time. More power to you!

Westislander, no one here is going to shoot down your post. Riding is a very personal thing and everyone has different ideas and comfort levels. I applaud all bicyclists whatever bike they ride, what clothing they choose to wear or the speed at which they ride. I would, however, like to stop and tell people on the overpasses to DOWNSHIFT instead of struggling to pedal and look like they are about to fall over.

Someone called me on saying that my Fens weighs 18 pounds. They were absolutely right, I weighed it yesterday (it took me a week to find my hanging scale) and it weighs 23 pounds. I dunno, I don't pay any real attention to weight and I don't know what constitutes a "light" bike. I was probably reading ad copy for some other bike around the time I bought the Fens. It feels real light to me though, especially now with the rack off (I took it off to weigh the bike).
