Can't Commute Tomorrow, already Bumming
Here it is Sunday AM and I'm already sad that I can't ride to work tomorrow morning due to a viewing I must attend around 4:30. I'm almost tempted to ride my bike to it, but my wife will kill me if I showed up to her grandma's wake in bike gear.
Perhaps I'll ride an aggressive 60-80 mile loop this afternoon which will tire me out just enough that a day off will be appreciated instead of dreaded.

I was with ya on the title, so opened the thread and got a damn good laugh from the first two sentences. I am also somewhat selfish and would probably think the same thing and then chastise myself for thinking it, which is why it made me laugh. Sorry for the loss in your family and may you have many sunny miles ahead (after tomorrow).

Out of town for training so no commuting this week either. Although going to try renting a bike tomorrow so that may change! Boca looks like a awesome place to ride!

Flying and Riding
I've got the opposite situation...I actually finally get to ride to work tomorrow (happy!). Last week I was fighting off a cold/cough from the cute little petri dish we call our granddaughter.

When I need my car in the afternoon, I'll often ride in for the morning and then ride home at lunch, shower and change, then jump in my car and drive back to work for the afternoon. Would something like that work for you?

SHe was 90 and quite ill. So, no one is really that sad to see her go. Most of us are relived that her suffering has finally come to an end.

I bet even a snooty, nice restaurant would let you change in the bathroom if you use the "I need to go to a funeral" excuse.
I gotta say I love the few times I get to ride my bike in a suit. I feel super classy. I also live in a place with super comfortable weather most of the year and I am not much of a sweater.

When my wife lost her grandma, the last thing on my mind during the burial was "gee, now I can't ride my bike today..."

Find a gas station, restaurant, bar, whatever around the block on google maps. stop there to change. Then either walk the bike back, or just put the cycling shoes back on and change those at the home?

I am unclear as to what bearing this has on the discussion. She was over 90, had a colostomy bag, and died shortly after complications during colon surgery. She was a sweet, lively woman and giving our attention to losing her took priority over the fact that I wasn't able to ride my bike for a few days while we were at the service and burial. Instead of getting on the internet to talk about my woes of not riding, I spent the entire time coordinating days off of work, got us to the out of state service, and took care of your very young son 24/7 so my wife had room to breathe.
