Though technically we both use it on our commute - since we commute together.
I have the M10 model for myself - it's kinda heavy, but it has the other heads I wanted. I don't always bring it with me on rides.
I'll agree that there isn't much you need it for on a regular ride unless something incredibly drastic happens. I only ever needed one once, when for some reason my brake caliper got loose. Borrowed one from someone else on the MUP.

I just carry 3-4 different size hex keys which also doubles as tire levers. I don't carry any other tool on the road with me, I'm never much further than 70 miles from home and could always limp the bike home if necessary. To define "limp," I once rode ~40 miles on a busted chain using an old zip tie, to this day I'm still surprised that worked. I couldn't shift and I had to walk up hills but I made it to my destination.

A few weeks ago, my rear wheel broke two spokes at once. The wheel was so badly out of true that it wouldn't roll in the frame. My multi tool has a spoke wrench in it. It is slow and cumbersome, but I was able to straighten the wheel enough to get going. Frankly, I'm surprised I needed a spoke wrench, because I've gone so many years without needing one on the road. In a way, I was lucky, because if you asked me if you need to carry a spoke wrench, I would say no.

I also carry this on on my road bike...
When I tour I carry a Topeak Alien which has enough tools in it to build a house, with that and my Leatherman I could re start civilization after the apocalypse.

Rarely need to use a multi tool while commuting, usually on then to help someone else.
+1 to the Park MT-1 tool, that along with a tube, tire levers a few cold patches and pump is all I usually carry

Like most everyone else, I've yet to need a multi tool while on the road. I carry the Topeak Toolbar on one bike, and the Topeak LumiTool on another. Both are so light I figure why not.
