Pulled up to a three way stop yesterday planning on turning left. A car pulled up at the same time on the leg that I was turning on to. Couldn't see inside, but the guy was delaying enough that I thought he was waiting for me to go. The problem was that he was creeping forward all the time. No way I was going to guess about it so I put my foot down. He then went and as he passed me he looked and made a gesture that indicated that he was miffed about me holding him up by not going first. It's kind of sad that folks get disappointed when there attempts at being nice are ignored. They just don't realize that they're not communicating their intentions well enough.

Often too, the good Samaritan does not realize that his car isn't the only threat. At busy bike-path crossings, I always get one guy stopping and waiving me on, but meanwhile there is a stream of cars flying by at over 40 mph in the other lane coming from the other direction. It's funny how it takes them a few seconds to realize this fact.
