Giant Escape City 2014 vs. 2015?

The bike shop has some 2014's for $550, or I could order a 2015 for $575. The person at the store was saying there was no difference in the bikes. When I looked at the specs these were the differences I noticed... the 2015 has Giant Connect handle bars instead of Giant Sport, Giant sport pedals rather than Alloy w/resin cage. KMC Z72 chain rather than SRAM via, and alloy trekking rack rather than rear carrier. I was curious if these would make enough of a difference to pay the extra 25 bucks and wait for a 2015 to come in or if I should just go with the 2014? Opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

I say wait. Long term those little things could make a big difference.

I'll say bike "makers" rarely upgrade parts year to year while keeping the same basic price point. Mostly I have seen lesser parts for a given model. An example would be one year the derailler is 105 and the next Tiagra. None of these you cite are drive train but I'd venture a guess they cost the manufacturer (assemblers?) less

If you like the 2014 model, I say just go for it. Unless, of course, the different chain, pedals, handlebars, or rack are game changers for you.
