Sold two bikes today...

So I sold two bikes today that I had absolutely no intention of selling if you had asked me last week. One was my beloved '89 Schwinn Prelude and the other an old Univega our shop had used as an errand bike before they closed down last year. My garage is getting a little too full, and I wanted to get the funds together for a C&V ride I had my eyes on. Both bikes were listed on Friday, and I was in touch with the first buyer (Schwinn) on Saturday. We met today, and as much as I hated seeing that bike go, I found out he planned on commuting to work on it (only a couple of miles) and riding it around. So I felt pretty good in the end.

The Univega blew up on CL late last night and this morning, with 4 or 5 people asking about it. College just started back up (and I live in a college town) so I figured the person I did eventually sell to would be a student. Turns out she went to school here, moved back to NYC and just moved back here not very long ago. Has no car of her own and wanted a bicycle to get around. Again, I felt really good in the end selling that one to another person who planned on using a bike for transportation. I started telling her about the Co-op here and other resources (she was a little unsure of herself but seemed to really want to just get around by bike), so we decided to stay in touch.

All in all, a day I wasn't necessarily happy about turned into a day of feeling good that some good bikes went to good people who plan on using them a lot and taking care of them. And now I can afford the Raleigh.
