What do you carry for unusual tools?
Other than the usual bike multi tool, flat kit what do you carry to do on the fly temporary repairs.
I take an old credit card and wrap duct tape around it a few times, takes up minimal room and could help out. I also carry a half dozen plastic zip ties of various sizes.
I figure at least I can get to work or home with what I have.

To fix stuff like straps or connectors that might break, I tote some paracord, metal split rings, carabiner hooks, etc. And my large errand bag has extra bungee cords, Velcro straps and web straps.

A couple of fairly large box wrenches - to take off back wheel that has an electric motor in case of a flat. I have never had to use it. I hope it never happens.

Latex gloves
A tire bead jack (cause I have super wimpy hands)
I always have a velcro strap or two with me. You never know what might fall off.

Pocket-sized tire plug kit. I've used it once on my skinny tubeless road bike tire, and once on my mountain bike tire. Works like a champ for both, didn't have to take the tire off or deal with tubes to fix the flat.

The gummy-worm and needle kind? Or something else? I had a kit for my motorcycle that had mushroom shaped plugs.

I bought used Swiss Army Climbers or Hunters for something like $9 each, and cheap LED headlamps. Put one in each car, my briefcase, backpack, etc. Cheap insurance.
As far as the original question, I always have a Leatherman Wave and PETL LED headlamp when commuting. Trying to patch a tire with a flashlight in your mouth is no fun.

The 'DynaPlug' kit, they are gummy-worm type things with a piece of brass on the end that punctures through your tire to get the worm part in. It's all self-contained in a little thing the size of a co2 can.

I like to carry a good multi tool. One that has a good pair of pliers and a knife. Mine has a saw blade on it that I loaned to a guy whose spoke protector got all mangled up on the spokes and cassette. I was on the trail in the middle of the woods when I ran into him. His riding was over until I showed up and helped him out. I also carry a chain tool while in the woods. Just in case. I've helped other people on two occasions with that.
You carry zip ties in case something breaks or comes loose. As in losing a screw on your fender stay. Or something like that. I don't carry them myself, I use twist ties.

For my fix gear, a cog wrench aka chain whip. Made from 1/4" aluminum plate and 1/8" chain. As good as any chain whip I've ever used and better than most. 16 oz. Straps to the top tube with toestraps very securely. Used it on the Crater Lake rim road to take the 17t I left camp with off and put on a 12t. Rode the rim on the 12t and the flipside 23t. Before heading down, I took the 23t off and put the 17t back on. Flipped the wheel a bunch of times that day. Spent maybe a mile in the wrong gear. Out of 98 miles and 9800' of climbing, all fixed, not too bad if I say so myself.
