A treat for early morning risers

If you are lucky enough to get up before sunrise or hop on your bike before sunrise, take a look towards the south eastern sky.

The three points of light lined up pointing to the Sun are Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. I hope I won't need to tell you which is which.

I saw them this morning while I was out with the dog. Thanks for telling me what I was looking at.

Will they be there tomorrow (Wednesday, 11/18), if you know?

We who do get up (and ride) before sunrise are indeed lucky. On my personal biologic clock, early morning is before 5:00 AM, mid-morning before 7:00 AM, late morning before 9:00 AM; and after 9:00 AM is pre-afternoon.

Yep, all month. In Oct, they were even closer together, and you could sometimes see Mercury right at the horizon.

You might want to keep an eye open for Leonid meteors in the pre-dawn sky on 11/18.

I've been seeing them for quite awhile now. Usually walk the dogs before sunrise and hav been able to spot them for a few weeks before DST ended.

Every day you'll see Venus moving towards the Sun as Mars and Jupiter moves away until Mars and Jupiter will be rising in the East as the Sun sets.

I read too fast and thought you were experiencing Squishy Rats!!

My browsers at work can't deal with the java, but this website is a cool way to check on the planets

How refreshing to look up at the sky while cycling, instead of looking down for potholes.
(This thread actually caused my dreaming of seeing the Big Dipper and the North Star in clear night sky.)
