Bikes: This list got too long: several ‘bents, an urban utility e-bike, and a dahon D7 that my daughter has absconded with.

Considering that we haven't owned a car since 06, I would say yes. However, Buying a condo near a couple of different Metro stops probably has helped more.

No, I don't see us as ever being a 1 car family. Wife and I have separate interests, and if I were to drive somewhere that would leave her stranded. That would not make her a happy camper, and by extension, would not make me a happy camper. I don't get everywhere by bike, either. It's a shame, because we would save a lot of money, especially when I go to replace my aging car. SC really screws you hard if you buy a new car every year, or at least my county district does. On my wife's Honda Fit, she has a $500/year tax on it just for the pleasure of owning it. Pretty damned ridiculous. I don't know how people afford their big new SUVs and trucks unless they are wealthy. Even my 13 year old Toyota is around 200 a year.

I don't see my car as a "Bad Thing", so I'm not that concerned about reducing it at all. Riding a bike is still a good thing, though I generally have a poor opinion of those who try to turn it into a dichotomy.

hence the desire for some people to reduce the number of cars that they own at any given point in time; an outcome more easily achieved for many of us by taking up bike commuting/transportation cycling.

Nope.
But, the cars have just been parked for over a year now. No real benefit of selling at this moment.
