VDOT Loves me, CSX does not.
I had a light on the way home where I would have to wait to turn left. There was infrequent traffic going my way and the light wouldn't trigger from my bike. Plus there were no pedestrian crosswalks so no buttons to push. Sometimes I'd wait like 5 minutes before a car would show up and finally trigger the light.
So I wrote to VDOT (Virginia Dept of Transportation) and said hey this light won't trigger for my bike. They never responded, but the last couple times when I've pulled up with no car, it has triggered the light right away... so they must have fixed it! I would definitely recommend writing to your DOT if you have a similar problem, someone else on here said they had gotten like 4 or 5 lights in their town adjusted, that's where I got the idea. And it works!
On the other hand, you know it's gonna be bad when you pull up to the train crossing and the train isn't even moving. It's just sitting there blocking your path. Then it goes one way. Then it stops. Then it goes the other way. Then it stops. Then it goes the first way again. Then it stops. Then it moves some more. Then it stops. Then it finally inches out of the way. I think it doubled my commute time ... But heck, I was just on my way to work, there was no hurry.
