A little too warm today...

1deg this morning with windchill around -10 and I guess I was going a bit too hard. By the time I arrived at work I had moisture frosting on my outer layers. Helmet was STEAMING when I took it off and noticed lots of frost. Good times.

It was 22 (cold for here.) I see goggles in the pictures. I had to ditch mine after 500 yards - fogged up. I guess I haven' t figured out the trick.

Good vented goggles, and fussing with whatever face covering you have so that it exhausts down and away from the goggles. Breathing down seems to help, and no combination of stuff I've ever used seems to like breathing out through the nose.

I noticed you wear glasses. Are they over or under your helmet straps?

Once you get used to it*, cold weather riding can be quite nice.

*Nobody said it was easy getting used to it.

That is a lot of gear. But, I don't think I ever make it out below 10°F or 20°F, and a slicker + fleece is usually enough. Snowboard helmet helps, but can easily get too hot if above 32°F.

We got about 3" of snow today, plus freezing rain on top of that.

So... no riding until tomorrow.

neither actually, these goggles have prescription inserts so I don't get yelled at by the BF safety crews

yeah, it's really not that bad once you learn how to dress properly and moderate your pace. Going home, which is all uphill, I just went real slow so as not to sweat as much and no frosting.

Agree with the helmet getting too hot. I usually ride with my normal bike helmet until down to ~20degF. @ ~15degF, I was getting bad headaches, thus the switch to ski helmet and goggles. When temps are >20degF it's just a baclava and regular helmet.

Only other changes from ~20degF are a pair of softshell pants and the switch to a down jacket so not too much extra gear.
